Sum Yi Tai launches Lucky Mee – to introduce and bring close one of Ipoh’s time-honoured staples to local audiences. The pop-up menu is scheduled to launch on 21 March 2020 and will run from 23 March to 19 June 2020 during lunchtime Mondays to Fridays at Sum Yi Tai’s Tapas Bar (ground floor).
Deliberately named as a pun to reflect a casual and fun nature, the dining experience at Lucky Mee is primed to be easy, quick and satisfying – perfect for diners in the CBD.
Address: 25 Boon Tat Street, Singapore 069622
Opening Hours:
Based on the original recipe imparted by Sun Heng’s Boss Lady to Sandra Sim, the menu focuses on three signature versions of the dish:
Across all versions, each bowl is served with an assortment of house-made crispy roast pork belly, gravied pork skin, char siew, cockles, beansprouts and sprigs of mint leaves to cool the spice.
Along with the one-dish bowls, diners can also choose from a select menu of Lucky Mee sides with items including a side of roast plate (charsiu, crispy pork belly and prawns) and Zhar Liu (Ipoh style yong tau fu), or order sharing plates from the Sum Yi Tai menu.
The Lucky Mee pop-up is accompanied by retail of limited-edition merchandise showcasing Ipoh’s food and iconic places of interest. Created by founder Frank Chan of merchandise brand Youli, an interior designer based in Singapore but who was born in Ipoh, this line of products is specially produced to publicise Ipoh’s heritage.
The debut products that will complement Lucky Mee are designed in collaboration with water-colour artist Allyson Lim.
For reservations, please email dragons@sumyitai.com.
For those who don’t prefer to dine in, the pop-up is also running a WhatsApp & Drive By sevice via 96433866 for weekday lunches and Saturday evenings. It will also be available on delivery platforms like Deliveroo and for advanced bulk delivery orders.
