i Light Singapore 2020 latest update: the event has been cancelled this year due to COVID-19

Update (30 March 2020): Urban Redevelopment Authority (URA) sadly announced that the I Light Singapore 2020 event has been cancelled this year due to COVID-19. The artists whose artworks have been selected for i Light Singapore 2020 will be invited to present their works at the next edition.

Presented by the Urban Redevelopment Authority (URA), i Light Singapore 2020 will continue to spotlight sustainable living through its light art installations and programming, as the topic of sustainability takes centre stage at this year’s Festival.

Through this year’s theme Re:Light, Re:Live, Re:Imagine, local and international artists were invited to create artworks that seek to encourage conversations about our lifestyles and decision-making to achieve a more sustainable future.

URA hopes that the Festival’s line-up of artworks and programming will inspire visitors and enable them to appreciate that small but consistent changes to their daily habits can impact on broader issues like climate change. In the long run, the aim is for every visitor to re-evaluate their consumption behaviour, and do their part in conserving resources and reducing waste.

Many artists have responded with creative ideas that explore and reimagine the endless potential of everyday objects as well as waste and repurpose them into dazzling light art installations to light up the nights at Marina Bay.
