New drivers can now enjoy Tribecar Singapore’s $2 per hour car rental service

Tribecar announced the availability of its hourly car rental to new drivers. As part of the initiative, the company will be increasing the available number of cars in the coming weeks – in time to cater to surging demand around the Lunar New Year.

The introductory fleet of cars include popular models such as Hyundai Avante, and other makes like Toyota Altis, Mazda 3 and Mitsubishi Lancer

Users are considered as new drivers if they are under 23 years old, and/or have less than two years of driving experience (as indicated in their Singapore driving licences).

Tribecar’s new service allows these new drivers in Singapore to rent a vehicle at the minimum age upon obtaining their driving licenses. They will also enjoy the benefits of being protected by enhanced insurance coverage.

New drivers who are looking to rent a car may register online and book a car through Tribecar website.

Singaporeans and Permanent Residents with local driving licenses will be required to make a refundable security deposit of S$200 upon registration. Upon confirmation of their deposit, drivers can pick up the car at the selected location and return it at the same location once they have availed of the service.

In comparison to regular drivers, new drivers will incur a surcharge of up to 30%, depending on the preferred car models. This surcharge accounts for an enhanced insurance fee. Drivers may also use the rate calculator online to get an estimated rate based on the number of hours and the period they are availing the rental service.

The cars are available at these locations – Chai Chee, Choa Chu Kang, Seng Kang, Jurong East, Punggol – with each car parked just a short walk away from MRT stations.

Moreover, new drivers who have completed more than two years of driving and are above the age of 23 will be considered experienced drivers and will automatically have access to over 370 vehicles located at 270+ locations island-wide.
