59-year-old Roger Yue Jr. is on trial for allegedly raping his student, who was between 13 and 14 years old when the crimes happened in 2008 to 2010. Jayley Woo as acknowledged him as one of her teachers when she was younger.
In a report by the Straits Times, 48 charges have been brought up against the skipping rope coach, who was also the man who taught MEdiacrop actress Jayley Woo when she was much younger.
The report from The Straits Times said, “The prosecution has zeroed in on seven charges – two for statutory rape and five for sexual penetration of a minor. These offences were allegedly committed when the victim was 13 years old.”
The trial started last November and is ongoing.
How did the girl tell the authorities?
The victim in this case has not been named for her protection, but she is now 22 years old.
In the prosecutions case, it was alleged that Due committed the heinous acts in his former studio in Tampines, his home, and at a school.
The victim had become part of Yue’s skipping rope team which competed at several schools. He also asked her to help out with his other classes and students from other schools.
Once she had stopped associating herself with him, she filed a police report on April 21, 2014. Yue also made a statement to the police in May 2014 which supports the victim’s claims. the prosecutors are working to include this statement in the case.
Yue also made several statements to a mental health professional and to police in subsequent visits and sessions. The victim also testified but behind closed doors.
Jayley Woo reacts
In a Facebook post, Jayley posted that this was the man who taught her how to do double dutch, which is a skipping rope variation using two ropes.
