More than $100,000 has been raised as of Sunday afternoon (16 July) to fund search efforts to find a Singaporean who went missing in Indonesia waters on Thursday (13 July).
Ms Rinta Paul Mukkam, 40, went on a dive trip at Komodo Islands and failed to return, according to her brother, Roy Paul Mukkam’s post on Facebook.
Ms Mukkam was part of a group of 16 women who were diving in the area.
Two fund-raising efforts on crowdfunding sites GoGetFunding and GIVE.Asia have been started by family friend, Srinesh Balakrishnan who hopes to raise $350,000 to pay for “further air and sea search support”.
So far, S$114,510 has been raised on GoGetFunding while another S$287 has been raised on GIVE.Asia.
Writing on GoGetFunding, Dr Balakrishnan said: “We are trying to raise funds to pay for further air and sea search support. One helicopter costs $60k USD (S$82,300) a day to book.”
