Unboxing a Da Vinci in Singapore at ArtScience Museum, Marina Bay Sands

Have you visited the Da Vinci: Shaping the Future exhibition at the ArtScience Museum in Marina Bay Sands?

Even if you did, here’s why you should visit it again – three of the paintings currently on display were changed to three new ones on 11 Feb.

The audience team at migme was invited to cover the unboxing of these rare masterpieces. You can read more about it on Discover or watch this exclusive behind-the-scene video on how the precious works of art were transported:

The painting dates back to 1490, and transporting it is a delicate process.

Here, “Portrait of a Lady” has arrived from the Biblioteca Ambrosiana in Milan, Italy, and experts are unboxing it for display at the museum for three months. The painting is attributed to Leonardo da Vinci, but historians have agreed that it was more likely painted by Ambrogio de Predis, a partner of da Vinci’s, because the painting lacks the latter’s typical artistic choices.

Da Vinci: Shaping the Future is an exhibition which explores the life, work, and legacy of Leonardo da Vinci. The exhibition presents 26 original pages of the Codex Atlanticus, da Vinci’s largest notebook, which collects together some of his most important drawings and writings:

The exhibition highlights are the original codex pages and paintings specially flown in from the Ambrosiana in Italy and displayed at ArtScience Museum for the first time in Southeast Asia. For conservation reasons, these original masterpieces are allowed to be displayed for a period of 3-months only at any one time.

The three paintings which were returned to the Ambrosiana, will be required to be kept in a dark space for 3 years before they can be displayed again.

There is so much more going on behind-the-scene just to present us with the works of Leonardo da Vinci in Singapore. Go catch the exhibition before it finishes it’s run! 🙂
