Forgotten Merlion - Alvinology

Forgotten Merlion

In conjunction with National Day, I hereby present to everyone, a very interesting short film made by one of my pal, Ghaz.

It’s called, Forgotten Merlion:

Ghaz went around Singapore inviting adults to sing our national anthem, Majulah Singapura. As most of us would have expected it, there were barely anyone who can sing the song in whole. Not even Malays. Not that we are unpatriotic I guess, but more because the last time most adults would have sung it will be a few years back when they were still in Secondary School during morning assembly.

Watch Ghaz’s light-hearted short film to learn how to sing our national anthem correctly AGAIN. Don’t worry, it is not presented in the typical boring National-Education-video format. Have fun.

Oh… and here’s the CORRECT lyrics, taken from Wikipedia:

MAJULAH SINGAPURA

Mari kita rakyat Singapura
Sama-sama menuju bahagia
Cita-cita kita yang mulia
Berjaya Singapura

Marilah kita bersatu
Dengan semangat yang baru
Semua kita berseru
Majulah Singapura
Majulah Singapura

English Translation

Come, fellow Singaporeans
Let us progress towards happiness together
May our noble aspiration bring
Singapore success

Come, let us unite
In a new spirit
Let our voices soar as one
Onward Singapore
Onward Singapore

让我们共同向幸福迈进;

团结在一起;
