Four recommended hotels to stay in Queensland, Australia, managed by Accor

If you are traveling to Queensland, Australia for a holiday, here are four recommended hotels to stay in, managed by French hospitality group, AccorHotel, across Brisbane, Gold Coast and Sunshine Coast.

Earn loyalty points by staying at any of these four hotels if you are a registered member with the Le Club AccorHotels – a free, multi-brand loyalty programme that offers AccorHotel customers advantages and rewards in most Sofitel, Pullman, MGallery, Novotel, Suite Novotel, Mercure, ibis, ibis styles, Adagio, Adagio Access, The Sebel, Grand Mercure and Thalassa sea & spa hotels. This means more than 2,700 budget to luxury hotels in the world!

I stayed at three of them during the #escapers15 social media campaign last year, organised by Accor, Scoot and Tourism Events Queensland.  I am very honoured to be part of this campaign, featuring 17 prominent bloggers from nine Asia Pacific countries, with Queensland, Australia, as the one of the stunning backdrops for a series of travel adventures.

Upon arrival in Queensland, our first stop was at the capital, Brisbane. The group of us were randomly assigned to two adjoined hotels managed by AccorHotels – ibis Brisbane and Mercure Brisbane.

Both hotels are conveniently located in the city centre, within easy walking distance to key attractions like the Queen Street Mall shopping precinct, Treasury Casino, South Bank Parklands, Brisbane Convention and Exhibition Centre, Queensland Performing Arts Centre and Roma Street Transit Centre.

I was assigned to Mercure Brisbane, which just finished a multi-million dollars rooms rejuvenation in 2015, plus the addition of a new restaurant. The stylish 4 stars hotel showcases Mercure’s beautiful new design standards throughout the guest rooms and suites. The hotel’s refurbished interiors seek to reflect the local character of Brisbane, through the use of vibrant colours and emblazoned black and white imagery of the river on the bed heads.

After Brisbane, we headed to Sunshine Coast where I stayed at Novotel Twin Waters Resort. Set around a private beachfront lagoon, the resort enjoys a pristine location amongst 14 hectares of natural bushland and manicured gardens.

There are lots of activities to do within the resort – from swimming in the private lagoon, to golf, tennis, indulging at the day spa, taking Segway tour, laser skirmish, cycling, kayaking and relaxing on the beach.

It’s a pity we only got to stay for one night, but I got to learn sailing and enjoyed some of the other watersports available. Would have love to lounge around by the beach or by the sprawling pool, but we had limited time at the resort. Next time!

I did get to enjoy a very nice poolside grill buffet for dinner on the first night though.

The hotel also features a light rail stop just outside the hotel, access by monorail to Jupiters Casino and is just a short stroll to the Gold Coast Convention Centre.

Facilities include a bar/lounge/dining concept – Room81 and an all-day dining restaurant, Bistro On3, located on the hotel’s pool deck level. Best of all, the hotel features two outdoor swimming pools – one heated to 24 degrees, spa and relaxation area set overlooking the entire coastal region.
