Sony has announced three new premium Walkman digital music players, the NW-WM1ZM3, NW-WM1AM3 and NW-ZX900, aimed at music enthusiasts and audiophiles seeking high-quality portable audio. The new models will be available in Singapore from November 2026, with prices starting at S$2,399.

The NW-WM1ZM3 and NW-WM1AM3 form part of Sony’s flagship WM1 Series, incorporating advanced audio technologies and premium components designed to reproduce music with detail, clarity and dynamic range. The NW-ZX900 inherits several audio components from the flagship model while offering a more compact design.
The suggested retail prices are S$6,999 for the NW-WM1ZM3, S$3,599 for the NW-WM1AM3 and S$2,399 for the NW-ZX900. Sony is also offering pre-order promotions in Singapore, while stocks last. Customers who purchase the NW-WM1ZM3 can enjoy S$1,000 off and receive a free IER-M500 worth S$139. The NW-WM1AM3 comes with S$400 off and the same complimentary earphones, while the NW-ZX900 offers S$200 off and a free pair of IER-M500 earphones.

The NW-WM1ZM3 features a precision-machined, gold-plated oxygen-free copper chassis, including a main chassis made from 99.99% pure copper. Gold-plated screws provide a stable ground connection, while thick KIMBER KABLE wiring, inherited from Sony’s DMP-Z1 digital music player, is designed to reduce noise and preserve audio signal quality. These components aim to deliver powerful bass, a wide soundstage and smooth high frequencies.
The NW-WM1AM3 and NW-ZX900 use aluminium-alloy main chassis with gold-plated oxygen-free copper rear chassis to improve rigidity and sound performance. The two WM1 Series models also feature an upgraded power supply system with two large solid high-polymer capacitors replacing the single capacitor used in the previous design. Hand-soldered oxygen-free copper wiring further supports cleaner and more stable power delivery.
Sony has also upgraded the L-C filter with a larger, high-purity copper coil to reduce resistance and distortion in the balanced audio output. An oxygen-free copper block covering the digital section helps strengthen the digital ground and reduce noise. The block has approximately 34% more mass than the one used in the previous model.
The NW-ZX900 incorporates additional premium components, including an ultra-low-noise low-dropout regulator and crystal oscillators also used in Sony’s higher-end players.
All three models use Sony’s S-Master HX digital amplifier technology, which supports Native DSD audio and balanced output. The latest version includes a look-ahead noise shaper that predicts quantisation noise and applies processing to improve the reproduction of fast musical transients.
The players also feature Sony’s DSD Remastering Engine, which converts PCM audio into an 11.2MHz DSD stream for a sound character closer to analogue playback. The updated technology works with music streamed over Wi-Fi as well as downloaded tracks.
Battery performance varies across the lineup. The NW-WM1ZM3 and NW-WM1AM3 offer up to 35 hours of playback for 128kbps MP3 files and up to 31 hours when using streaming services. The NW-ZX900 provides up to 40 hours of MP3 playback or up to 35 hours when using streaming service apps.
For the display, the NW-WM1ZM3 and NW-WM1AM3 feature 5.5-inch screens, while the NW-ZX900 comes with a 5-inch screen. Sony says the larger displays offer smoother operation and clearer album artwork. Users can also customise the Walkman Home Screen interface to suit their preferences.
Sony has incorporated sustainability measures into the new lineup, with packaging for all three models using no plastic materials.
The Sony NW-WM1ZM3, NW-WM1AM3 and NW-ZX900 will arrive in Singapore from November 2026. Pre-order promotions are available while stocks last.
