VOYAH, the premium brand of Dongfeng, one of China’s oldest carmakers with 57 years of manufacturing experience, has officially unveiled its new flagship MPV, the VOYAH DREAM 9, at a global launch event in Beijing, China, positioning the model as a premium alternative for both business travel and family mobility.

We were among the international media delegates from Singapore invited to China for the VOYAH Intelligent Luxury Tour ahead of the launch. The experience included a visit to VOYAH’s manufacturing facilities and flagship showroom in Wuhan, where we saw its automated production lines and intelligent manufacturing systems, followed by an opportunity to experience the DREAM 9 before its global debut.

The launch featured a star-studded cast of Chinese celebrities including the likes of Hong Kong stars, Gallen Lo (羅嘉良) and Angie Chiu (趙雅芝), alongside Voyah CEO Lu Fang.

The DREAM 9 was officially launched on 22 September at the National Speed Skating Oval in Beijing.

It is offered in three variants, Ultra, Ultra+ and Lizun Edition, with both plug-in hybrid and all-electric powertrains. Prices range from RMB 419,900 to RMB 529,900 (~80,000 to 101,000 SGD).

The new model is intended to take the VOYAH DREAM family further into the RMB 500,000 (~95,000 SGD) premium segment. It combines an 800V electrical architecture with HUAWEI Qiankun ADS 5, HarmonySpace 6 and VOYAH’s Huju Chassis P.

A key highlight is its flashy design.

The DREAM 9 adopts VOYAH’s new “Bold, Fluid, Elegant” design language, with styling influenced by Chinese aesthetics. The top-specification Lizun Edition features a crystal retractable hood emblem with 2,520 precision-cut facets, a two-tone exterior, “Dragon Scale” detailing and a distinctive floating wheel design.

The cabin is where the DREAM 9 truly shines.
Rather than treating an MPV simply as a large vehicle with more legroom, VOYAH has designed the interior around different ways passengers may use the space.

The second-row seats can rotate through 45, 90 and 180 degrees. This allows passengers to face one another during business meetings or turn towards the third row when travelling with children.

The second-row VIP seats also offer zero-gravity positioning, lateral movement and mechanical massage.
During our media experience, the flexibility of the second row was one of the features that immediately caught attention. The seats can be adjusted into different positions, changing the character of the cabin depending on whether it is being used for work, relaxation or family travel.

For business users, the Ultra+ variant adds powered privacy curtains, optional intelligent dimming privacy glass, premium materials and a more lounge-like cabin environment. VOYAH says the DREAM 9 is also the only model in its segment to offer ventilation, heating and massage functions across all seats.

Family-oriented features include baby-friendly interior materials, air purification, a 21.4-inch ceiling display, a 13-litre heating and cooling refrigerator and external power supply capability.
The technology package is equally extensive. The DREAM 9 uses a full-domain Level 3 architecture and HUAWEI Qiankun ADS 5. Its sensor suite includes one 896-line dual-optical-path LiDAR, three solid-state LiDAR units and a total of 37 intelligent sensors.
The vehicle also incorporates multiple safety redundancies covering systems such as perception, computing, braking and steering. Its active safety functions include front automatic emergency braking, lateral collision prevention and rear automatic emergency braking.

Underneath, the DREAM 9 uses three-chamber air suspension and dual-valve EDC damping. Its bidirectional 10-degree rear-wheel steering is designed to make the large MPV more manoeuvrable, while intelligent all-wheel drive provides additional traction.
During the launch, a mind-boggling video was played showing a crazy 6-car stack drive to showcase the durability and strength of the Voyah Dream 9:

All versions use an 800V high-voltage platform. Plug-in hybrid versions feature a 65kWh battery and support 5C ultra-fast charging, with a claimed 20% to 80% charging time of 12 minutes. The fully electric version gets a 120kWh battery.

VOYAH also shared on its manufacturing capabilities during the media tour in Wuhan. The Huangjin and Yunfeng factories have a combined annual production capacity of 450,000 vehicles, with the company stating that a vehicle can roll off the production line every 40 seconds.
The Huangjin facility uses 5G, big data, AI, automated material transport systems and AGV robots. Its production system allows sedans, SUVs and MPVs to be manufactured on the same line using a flexible mixed-production process.

The brand says the DREAM 9 attracted more than 30,000 pre-orders within 48 hours of opening for pre-sales, with the Lizun Edition accounting for more than half of those orders. More than 20,000 orders also came from existing VOYAH customers upgrading or replacing their vehicles.
VOYAH is now present in 40 countries and regions, with more than 240 overseas sales and service outlets according to the company. Its international expansion began in Norway in 2022 before moving into other European and Middle Eastern markets.
For Singapore, the brand’s international expansion is worth watching, particularly as it identifies right-hand-drive markets as one of its strategic priorities. Global rollout of the Voyah Dream 9 outside of China will begin from November 2026.

After experiencing the DREAM 9 in person during the launch programme, it is clear that VOYAH is not positioning this simply as another large MPV. The emphasis is on creating a flexible luxury space that can switch between business lounge, family room and long-distance relaxation environment, while bringing together technology and Chinese-inspired design in a single flagship model.
We cannot wait for it to land on Singapore shores. The price point would be interesting to watch as this could potentially be a killer of the prevalent ICE MPVs in the market right now like the Toyota Alphard and Vellfire with its snazzy tech features and flamboyant design.
