Held under the theme “Strong Hearts, Bright Future”, the third edition of the competition invites young people aged seven to 17 to express heart health messages through art and encourage their peers and families to adopt healthier lifestyles.

The showcase was officially launched by Ms Denise Phua, Mayor of Central Singapore and Member of Parliament for Jalan Besar GRC. It forms part of the Singapore Heart Foundation’s “Next Stop: Your Healthier Heart” community heart health project, which is being presented at the Circle Line MRT station in collaboration with SMRT Trains and Terumo Asia Holdings, with support from DKSH, in conjunction with National Heart Week and World Heart Day.

The initiative marks the third collaboration between the Singapore Heart Foundation, SMRT Trains and Terumo Asia Holdings, with the organisations working together to raise awareness of cardiovascular disease and the importance of taking care of heart health.

Now in its third year, Art for the Heart encourages participants to first gain a general understanding of cardiovascular disease and the lifestyle habits that can help prevent it before translating those messages into creative artworks. Beyond recognising artistic talent, the competition aims to develop a new generation of young heart health advocates and encourage conversations about cardiovascular health among young people, their friends and families.

This year’s competition received more than 2,000 submissions from primary schools, secondary schools and tertiary institutions nationwide. The 30 shortlisted artworks will be displayed at Bayfront MRT Station from 4 September to 30 November 2026.

Members of the public can vote for their favourite artwork by scanning the QR code displayed at the showcase. Voting for the People’s Choice category is open until 31 October 2026, with the three artworks receiving the most public votes selected as the winners.

The shortlisted participants will also compete in the Primary and Secondary/Tertiary winning categories. All winners will be announced on the Singapore Heart Foundation’s website and social media platforms on 6 November 2026.

Alongside the young artists’ work, the “Next Stop: Your Healthier Heart” showcase features cardiovascular medical devices and technology presented by Terumo Asia Holdings. The displays are designed to give commuters a better understanding of procedures and technologies used in cardiovascular treatment and surgery.

Among the exhibits is a heart vessel model demonstrating the stenting process and an endoscopic vein harvesting display showing how a vein can be obtained for use in coronary artery bypass surgery. Selected medical technology displays will remain at the station until 30 November 2026.

The showcase builds on the organisations’ longer-term efforts to bring heart health education closer to commuters. In 2024, the Singapore Heart Foundation, SMRT Trains and Terumo Asia Holdings jointly launched two Health@Station Kiosks at Tanjong Pagar and Promenade MRT stations. Four more kiosks were added in October 2025 at one north, Kent Ridge, Labrador Park and Tai Seng MRT stations.

The kiosks encourage commuters to regularly check their blood pressure and Body Mass Index during their journeys, helping them become more aware of potential cardiovascular risks and the importance of early detection.

Members of the public can view the 30 shortlisted Art for the Heart 2026 artworks and cast their votes at the Bayfront MRT Station showcase from 4 September to 31 October 2026.
