Singapore will send 304 athletes across 27 sports to the Asian Games, which will take place from 19 September to 4 October 2026. A further 13 athletes across nine sports will represent the country at the Youth Olympic Games in Dakar from 31 October to 13 November 2026.
The Asian Games contingent brings together experienced athletes who have competed on the international stage alongside a new generation of athletes making their mark in their respective sports. Almost two thirds of Singapore’s 304 strong Asian Games contingent will be making their Asian Games debut.
Among the experienced athletes heading to Aichi-Nagoya are Shanti Pereira in athletics, Ryan Lo in sailing, Stephenie Chen in canoe and Amita Berthier in fencing. They will be joined by Asian Games debutants including Amanda Yap in gymnastics, Ser Lin Qian in table tennis and Ian Goh in sailing.
For the younger members of the contingent, the Asian Games will provide an important opportunity to compete against some of Asia’s best athletes while gaining valuable experience at the continental level. The competition will also form part of their longer-term development as they work towards future Major Games.
At the official Flag Presentation Ceremony held at OCBC Square at The Kallang, fencing athlete Kiria Tikanah Abdul Rahman and canoe athlete Brandon Ooi Wei Cheng were unveiled as Singapore’s flag bearers for the Asian Games. Table tennis athlete Loy Ming Ying and badminton athlete Zack Ng Zhen Hong will carry the Singapore flag at the Dakar 2026 Youth Olympic Games.
Grace Fu, President of the Singapore National Olympic Council, and David Neo, Minister for Culture, Community and Youth and Second Minister for Education, presented the Singapore flag to the Chefs de Mission for the respective Games.
Team Singapore softball women’s team captain Cacia Tan, who will compete at the Asian Games, also led the contingent in reciting the Athletes’ Pledge during the ceremony.
The Dakar 2026 Youth Olympic Games contingent comprises 13 young athletes competing across nine sports. The athletes will have the opportunity to compete against leading young talents from around the world, gain international competition experience and continue developing towards future Major Games.
The flag presentation ceremony was also accompanied by the Olympic Day Walk 2026, which brought together around 2,000 participants, including Minister David Neo, Team Singapore athletes and officials heading to both Games.
Participants completed a 3.7km walk around The Kallang as part of the annual event, which celebrates the Olympic spirit and its values. Organised by Olympians Singapore and the Singapore National Olympic Council, the event also featured Olympians including Chua Koon Siong, who competed in weightlifting at Montreal 1976, Zhou Jingyi, who represented Singapore in table tennis at Paris 2024, and Tay Chin Joo, who competed in swimming at Munich 1972.
The Olympic Day Walk highlighted the values of friendship, excellence and respect, bringing athletes from different generations together with the wider community ahead of another major chapter for Singapore sport.
