RWS Cares Festival Raises Over S$800,000 for President’s Challenge

Resorts World Sentosa (RWS) has contributed more than S$2 million in monetary and in-kind support to the President’s Challenge, with over S$800,000 raised during its inaugural RWS Cares Festival through the Steps of Hope walkathon.

Graced by Guest-of-Honour President Tharman Shanmugaratnam, the walkathon brought together more than 3,000 participants, including community partners, beneficiaries and RWS team members, in support of three President’s Challenge beneficiaries: Autism Resource Centre (Singapore), MILK (Mainly I Love Kids) Fund and TomoWork.

For the first time, participants were able to walk through three of RWS’ attractions, Universal Studios Singapore, Singapore Oceanarium and Adventure Cove Waterpark, as part of the 1.4km Steps of Hope route. The event also featured a lineup of popular characters, including Illumination’s Minions, DreamWorks Animation’s Kung Fu Panda and Shrek, as well as POP MART’s Twinkle Twinkle, who greeted participants along the way.

The festival opened with a donation presentation to the President’s Challenge by RWS Chairman Tan Sri Lim Kok Thay, followed by the official flag-off of the Steps of Hope walkathon by President Tharman.

The two-day RWS Cares Festival continues until 23 August with the Green Living Fair at the Singapore Oceanarium’s Research and Learning Centre. The fair offers members of the public opportunities to learn about sustainability, support local social enterprises and take part in hands-on activities.

Visitors can explore eco-friendly products from local brands and social enterprises, participate in workshops, visit interactive booths and enjoy performances by artists of all abilities. The event also highlights practical ways for visitors to adopt more sustainable lifestyle choices in their daily lives. All proceeds from the Green Living Fair will go directly to the participating social enterprise vendors.

RWS Cares is Resorts World Sentosa’s corporate social responsibility and community engagement programme. Its initiatives focus on areas including education, climate action and support for local enterprises, reflecting the resort’s ongoing efforts to contribute to the local community and build more inclusive and empowered communities.
