Singapore travellers looking for a quick island getaway this September school holidays now have a new destination to consider. Following the launch of Scoot’s direct flights between Singapore and Belitung earlier this year, the Belitung Archipelago is now around a one-hour flight from Singapore, bringing its turquoise waters, dramatic granite formations and island adventures within easy reach.
From September 2026, convenient flight timings of 10am from Singapore and 11am from Belitung will make it even easier for families, couples and groups of friends to plan a short getaway to Indonesia.
Located within the UNESCO Global Geopark listed Belitung Archipelago, Tanjung Kelayang Reserve provides a base for travellers looking to experience the island at a more relaxed pace. The 350-hectare reserve covers protected coastline, forests and marine landscapes, offering opportunities to explore secluded beaches, hidden islands and natural surroundings away from the more familiar tourist destinations in Indonesia.
Belitung is surrounded by hundreds of islands scattered across clear turquoise waters, making island hopping one of the key experiences for visitors. Travellers can explore towering granite rock formations, pristine beaches and snorkelling spots, while the island’s generally calm waters can also make it suitable for families with younger children who are experiencing the sea together.

There is plenty to explore beyond the coastline too. Nature walks, local food experiences and opportunities to discover Belitung’s culture allow visitors to experience a slower side of island life without having to pack too many activities into a single trip.
To mark the growing connectivity between Singapore and Belitung, Tanjung Kelayang Reserve is offering a 4D3N Island Escape from S$598 nett per room, based on two guests sharing. The package includes daily breakfast, return airport transfers, a half day island hopping and snorkelling excursion, as well as a choice between the Whistle Trail nature experience or a 30-minute foot massage. Guests will also receive dining and spa privileges during their stay.
Families travelling during the September school holidays can also take part in complimentary daily experiences at Sheraton Belitung Resort. The activities are designed to introduce guests to the island’s culture, traditions and natural environment through hands on experiences.
Children and adults can learn about stingless bees during a visit to a local honey farm, explore traditional craftsmanship through batik eco print and bracelet making workshops, and take part in island inspired culinary experiences. Sustainability activities, swimming lessons and outdoor recreation are also available, giving families different ways to spend time together while discovering more about Belitung.
Beyond the organised activities, visitors can set out to explore other islands, follow coastal trails or simply spend time by the sea. The destination offers an alternative to the usual fast paced holiday, with opportunities to slow down and enjoy nature and time together.
With direct flights making Belitung more accessible from Singapore, the destination offers a convenient option for travellers seeking a different kind of island holiday. From island hopping and snorkelling to nature experiences and cultural discoveries, Belitung combines adventure and relaxation within a short flight from Singapore, making it a destination worth considering for the September school holidays.
