Sport Singapore (SportSG) has officially launched the 11th edition of GetActive! Singapore (GASG), bringing communities together through an islandwide programme of sports, competitions and family friendly activities in celebration of Singapore’s 61st National Day.

Launched at Our Tampines Hub in conjunction with the Public Service Sports & Family Day, this year’s edition was officiated by Guest of Honour Baey Yam Keng, Minister of State for the Ministry of Culture, Community and Youth and the Ministry of Transport, together with Chan Heng Kee, Head of the Civil Service. Running across two weekends from 25 July to 8 August 2026, GASG features a wide range of sporting experiences and community events designed to encourage Singaporeans of all ages and abilities to stay active.
The launch event brought together close to 1,000 participants for the National Day Observance Ceremony, where attendees sang the National Anthem and recited the National Pledge. The occasion also marked the 60th anniversary of the National Pledge, reaffirming a shared commitment to building a united Singapore. Participants later joined the GetActive! Singapore Workout 2026, Dance of the Nation, choreographed to this year’s National Day songs, You’ll Be Okay and Sparkle, before taking part in sport tryouts including athletics, goalball and table tennis.
Inclusivity remains a key focus of this year’s celebrations. At Singapore Expo, the ninth edition of Play Inclusive, Singapore’s largest inclusive sports competition, brought together close to 3,500 participants and volunteers, including nearly 2,100 athletes and Unified Partners. Co organised by SportCares, the philanthropic arm of SportSG, Special Olympics Singapore and the Singapore Disability Sports Council, the event featured basketball, goalball and soundball competitions after weeks of joint training that encouraged teamwork, friendship and mutual understanding. The event was attended by Guest of Honour Goh Hanyan, Senior Parliamentary Secretary for the Ministry of Culture, Community and Youth and the Ministry of Sustainability and the Environment.
Play Inclusive forms part of SportSG’s broader commitment to making sport more accessible for persons with disabilities under the refreshed Disability Sports Master Plan, announced in November 2024. As part of this effort, the second grant call for the Enabling Sports Fund also opens today. Supported by the President’s Challenge, with SportSG serving as an Impact Partner, the fund aims to raise at least S$10 million by 2030 to support innovative projects that improve access to sport for persons with disabilities. The first funding cycle launched in 2025 supported 21 projects that are expected to benefit more than 8,000 participants across over 20 sports.
New to this year’s festival is GetActive! Deals, which brings together more than 30 sports businesses offering exclusive promotions on sports, fitness, wellness experiences and sporting equipment throughout August.

Leading up to the official launch, GASG 2026 featured several community programmes designed to encourage participation across different age groups. The third edition of Youth@Play welcomed close to 800 tertiary students to Our Tampines Hub on 27 July, where they participated in Learn to Play workshops covering skateboarding, sport climbing and pickleball. The event also featured the Institute of Technical Education College Games and the inaugural Inter Polytechnic Pickleball Games, with teams from all five polytechnics competing in men’s, women’s and mixed doubles categories.
Intergenerational bonding also took centre stage during ActiveX Playdate @ GASG, held on 31 July at Red Swastika School. Around 500 seniors from five Active Ageing Centres and students from six primary schools participated in adaptive sports including boccia, ladder toss and seated floorball. The event was attended by Dr Charlene Chen, Member of the Government Parliamentary Committee for Culture, Community and Youth, and marked the first time the programme was hosted by a school. Additional ActiveX Playdates will be organised across eight more schools and nine Active Ageing Centres.
Pesta Sukan, which began on 19 June, also forms part of this year’s GetActive! Singapore celebrations. The long running sporting festival features competitions across more than 30 sports, including nine para sports, and introduced new signature events such as the Run Walk Challenge, Swim Challenge and the Pesta Sukan Community Championship, where teams from neighbourhoods and districts compete in sports including bowling, football and netball.

The celebrations will continue through 8 August with several upcoming events. The Lion City Dance Convention at *SCAPE runs until 2 August, followed by the Seniors National Games Finals at OCBC Arena on 4 August and the Nurture Kids Family Play Date with M.Y World at M.Y World @ Canberra Eastlink on 6 August.
GetActive! Singapore 2026 will conclude on 8 August with ActiveSG Celebrates!, a series of sport carnivals held simultaneously at ActiveSG Sport Centres in Bedok, Hougang, Jurong East, Queenstown and Woodlands. Visitors can look forward to sport tryouts, Active Health fitness challenges, wellness stations and National Day themed activities, bringing families and communities together through the shared spirit of sport.
