The Pokémon Company has announced that Part 1 of the paid Pokémon Pokopia Expansion Pass, titled Bubbly Basin, will launch on 5 August 2026 for Nintendo Switch 2, alongside the free Version 2.0.0 software update that introduces new gameplay features for all players. Co-developed by The Pokémon Company, GAME FREAK and KOEI TECMO GAMES, the latest content expands the relaxing town building experience with a brand-new underwater setting, additional Pokémon, fresh activities and new adventures.
The first expansion introduces Bubbly Basin, an underwater town where players will explore the ocean alongside Popplio and Ditto while helping various Pokémon complete requests to gradually develop the community. Players can construct floating underwater buildings using new buoyant blocks, power machines such as bubble generators and streetlights with the help of Pokémon like Chinchou, and enjoy a more three-dimensional style of town building unique to the underwater environment.
Bubbly Basin also brings new furniture inspired by life beneath the sea, allowing players to customise their homes with ocean themed decorations. One highlight is the ability to build a Sharpedo submarine room reminiscent of a Secret Base. Players can also venture into the deep sea through mysterious underwater caverns, unlock access to previously inaccessible Dream Islands with a Starmie doll, and enjoy multiplayer swimming activities. The expansion also adds new outfits, more Pokémon, smoothies as a new prepared food item, and an upgraded Surf move.
The Pokémon Company also shared new details about Part 2 of the Expansion Pass, which is scheduled to arrive in late 2026. While it will not introduce a new town, the update will allow players to customise their characters and Pokémon with accessories, alongside additional furniture and Pokémon. Part 3, planned for 2027, will introduce another brand-new town together with even more Pokémon and furniture.
The Pokémon Pokopia Expansion Pass, which includes Parts 1 through 3, is already available for purchase through Nintendo eShop, the Nintendo Store and the official Nintendo Store app. Players who purchase the Expansion Pass will immediately receive a recipe to craft Dynamic Ditto print blocks and wallpaper. Those who purchase the pass by 31 August 2027 will also receive a bonus serial code for 30 rare Pokémetal Ingots, which can be redeemed in game through the Mystery Gifts feature.
Launching alongside the paid content is the free Version 2.0.0 software update, available to all Pokémon Pokopia players. One of its biggest additions is the new Dive move, which is taught by Manaphy after players complete specific in game requirements. Dive enables players to freely explore underwater areas, build relaxing spaces and crop fields beneath the sea, and even extend railway tracks from land into the ocean, opening up entirely new town building possibilities.
The free update also introduces a limited time in game event titled Fetching Scales for Feebas, running from 13 to 28 August 2026. During the event, players can collect exclusive Prism Scales to befriend Feebas and Milotic while exchanging the items for swimming themed furniture that helps create suitable habitats for the Pokémon. The seasonal event adds another reason for players to return and continue expanding their towns after the latest update arrives.
