Irish rock band The Script is gearing up for a major comeback with the release of their new single, “The Crowd Was Singing Wonderwall,” out on 10 July 2026, followed by their highly anticipated eighth studio album, The User’s Guide to Being Human, on 14 August 2026. The new music also sets the stage for the band’s return to Southeast Asia in March 2027 after the overwhelming success of their sold-out Satellites tour across the region in 2025.
“The Crowd Was Singing Wonderwall” is a heartfelt anthem about nostalgia, forgiveness and reconnecting with old friends. Inspired by the sense of unity surrounding Oasis’ Live ’25 reunion tour, the song tells the story of lifelong friends finding each other again decades after drifting apart. Combining The Script’s signature stadium ready choruses with the energy of indie rock, the track explores themes of reconciliation and second chances that resonate across generations.
Frontman Danny O’Donoghue said the reunion of the Gallagher brothers helped spark the song’s message, describing the moment as a reminder that reconciliation is possible even after years of conflict. The idea of forgiveness and renewed friendships forms one of the central themes of both the new single and the upcoming album.
The User’s Guide to Being Human marks another chapter for the band following the passing of guitarist and founding member Mark Sheehan in 2023. Recorded in Topanga Canyon, Los Angeles, the album reunites O’Donoghue with longtime collaborators Andrew Frampton, Steve Kipner and Jimbo Barry, the songwriting and production team behind many of The Script’s biggest hits including “Hall Of Fame,” “The Man Who Can’t Be Moved” and “Breakeven.” The album follows the lead single “Man in the Arena,” which received A List status on BBC Radio 2.
The band’s return to Southeast Asia follows an exceptionally successful run in 2025, when every stop on the Satellites tour sold out. The tour included performances at Singapore Indoor Stadium, Mega Star Arena in Kuala Lumpur, Araneta Coliseum in Manila, ICE BSD City in Jakarta, Jatim Expo in Surabaya and Thunder Dome in Bangkok, reinforcing Southeast Asia as one of the band’s strongest touring markets.
Demand for the 2027 tour has already proven to be extraordinary. The first two Manila concerts on 18 and 19 March 2027 sold out quickly, prompting the addition of a third show on 20 March at the same venue. The response highlights the band’s enduring popularity in the Philippines and reflects the continued enthusiasm of fans across Asia.
Following the Manila concerts, The Script will perform at Singapore Indoor Stadium on 31 March 2027 before heading to Jakarta on 3 April 2027, with the Indonesian venue to be announced at a later date.
