WhatsApp Rolls Out New Features Across iPad, Cars and Desktop for a More Connected Experience

WhatsApp is introducing a series of new features designed to make messaging more seamless across devices and everyday situations, from using an iPad independently to staying connected safely while driving and sharing music with friends.

Recognising that people now move between multiple devices and apps throughout the day, WhatsApp has partnered with other platforms and services to create a more integrated experience that fits naturally into users’ daily routines.

One of the biggest updates is the ability to create and register a WhatsApp account directly on an iPad. Previously, users needed to link the app to an existing phone account, but they can now sign up and set up WhatsApp independently on the iPad, making it easier for tablet users to get started.

WhatsApp has also refreshed its in car experience with redesigned support for Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The updated interface allows users to hear and reply to messages, make calls, access call history and reach favourite contacts through their vehicle’s display, all using hands free controls for greater convenience while on the road.

Desktop and web users will also benefit from improved PDF support through Adobe Acrobat integration. Instead of downloading PDF files before viewing them, users can now open documents directly within WhatsApp and make simple edits such as highlighting text and adding annotations, all without leaving the chat.

For music lovers, WhatsApp is making Status updates more expressive by allowing songs to be shared directly from Apple Music and Spotify. With just a few taps, users can post their current favourite tracks to their WhatsApp Status, giving friends a quick glimpse into what they are listening to at the moment.
