JUMBO Group has announced that its flagship JUMBO Seafood outlet at East Coast Seafood Centre will cease operations when its lease expires on 30 September 2026, marking the end of an era for one of Singapore’s most iconic seaside dining destinations. The closure is part of redevelopment plans for East Coast Park led by the National Parks Board, which aims to rejuvenate the area and enhance the experience for park visitors.
First established in 1987, the East Coast outlet is where JUMBO Seafood began its journey 39 years ago. Over the decades, it has become a familiar landmark for generations of diners, known for its signature Singapore seafood dishes such as Chilli Crab and cereal prawns. The restaurant has long been a popular choice for family gatherings, corporate hosting and tourists seeking an authentic seaside dining experience.
To mark its legacy, JUMBO Group is rolling out a series of farewell celebrations titled “Where It All Began”, featuring monthly promotions and activities at the East Coast Seafood Centre outlet from now until 30 September 2026. The initiative is designed as a tribute to loyal customers who have supported the brand since its earliest days.
The first major highlight runs from 11 June to 31 July 2026, where succulent mud crabs take centre stage with special $39 promotions for average 500g crabs. Diners can choose their preferred cooking style while enjoying what is described as a final shoreline feast at the original outlet. The promotion is valid for dine in only and is available while stocks last, with standard terms and conditions applying.
From 5 June to 30 September 2026, JUMBO Seafood will also offer $39 member vouchers via the My JUMBO SG app as part of its 39-year anniversary celebrations. Members can enjoy unlimited redemptions throughout the period. In addition, the group will welcome Mr Ang Hon Nam, founding member and father of Executive Chairman and Group CEO Mr Ang Kiam Meng, who will make appearances at the restaurant. Guests who take a photo with him and show it to staff will receive a complimentary coconut drink.
As a further nod to its heritage year, customers born in 1987 will be entitled to a complimentary dessert of the day by presenting their identification to staff.
A special Grand Finale Dinner is also being planned for late September 2026. Positioned as both a farewell celebration and a community initiative, the ticketed event is tentatively priced from $1,000 per table of 10 and will bring together long-time patrons, partners and members of the public for a final gathering at the historic seaside location.
In line with JUMBO Group’s corporate social responsibility commitments, 100 percent of proceeds from the dinner will be donated to 10 charitable organisations. The group said the initiative is intended to extend the spirit of gratitude beyond the dining table and into the wider community, with further details on the event date, menu and beneficiaries to be announced later.
Despite the closure of its East Coast flagship, JUMBO Seafood will continue operations across Singapore at outlets including Riverside Point, Dempsey Hill, ION Orchard, Jewel Changi Airport, The Riverwalk and Resorts World Sentosa under JUMBO Premium, as well as regional locations in China, Indonesia, South Korea, Thailand and Cambodia. The group has also introduced its latest dining concept, JUMBOREE, located in Tai Seng.
JUMBO Group added that it remains committed to delivering quality seafood dining experiences while continuing to review and evolve its portfolio for long term sustainability and growth. During the final months at East Coast, the brand will also share stories from long serving staff, regular customers and visitors through its social media platforms as part of a farewell tribute to the landmark outlet that helped define its legacy.
