Located in the lush greenery of Orchid Country Club, GOCHU is a distinctive Korean dining destination known for authentic market dishes and a unique cave inspired interior. Step inside GOCHU and leave the city behind. Designed to transport diners away from the urban hustle into a serene and immersive environment, the restaurant features textured stone walls, natural curves, and panoramic views of the surrounding greenery.
We have been to GOCHU several times and although it is located further into the heartlands in Yishun, it presents a tranquil dining environment that stands apart from typical Korean restaurants in Singapore which makes the trip worth it.
For this latest visit, we were invited to savour their premium lunch menu alongside a few signature mainstays.

First off, we sampled the Naengmyeon (Cold Noodles) & Bulgoi Set (S$24), which is available only during lunch time.

Unlike typical cold noodles, the foundation here is a broth slow simmered for 12 hours using premium beef brisket and galbi. This intensive process extracts a deep meaty aroma that remains clean and rich. Served ice cold, it is a highly refreshing dish ideal for Singapore’s warm climate.
The accompanying wagyu bulgogi uses quality meat with delectable marbling, marinated in traditional Korean bulgogi seasoning. The meat is soft, tender, and flavourful.
A hot version is also available for this exclusive lunch set. You can opt for the On Myeon & Bulgogi Set for the same price if you prefer something warm.
Next, we enjoyed the Galbitang Bansang (S$30). This clear, nourishing beef rib broth is simmered for a full 24 hours to achieve maximum depth. The meat effortlessly falls off the bone, offering a profound, beefy comfort.

A nostalgic Korean street food rarely found in Singapore, this dish features large green chilies stuffed with minced pork, tofu, and vegetables. Fried until golden and crispy, it is served with a creamy tzatziki and a special spicy sauce that adds a formidable but highly enjoyable kick.

For drinks, we had the Nurungji Sikhye (S$5). This traditional sweet Korean scorched rice drink acts as a soothing palate cleanser, harmonising the robust and spicy flavours of the meal.
