Garmin Launches New Forerunner 70 and Forerunner 170 Smartwatches for Everyday Runners

Garmin Singapore has unveiled the new Forerunner 70 and Forerunner 170, two running smartwatches designed to help runners of all levels improve their training while staying connected throughout the day.

Built with runners in mind, both smartwatches feature a vibrant 1.2-inch AMOLED display, responsive touchscreen controls, and Garmin’s signature five button design for easy navigation during workouts. The devices also come packed with health tracking features, advanced training tools, smart notifications, and long battery life that removes the need for nightly charging.

The new Garmin Forerunner 70 is positioned as an accessible running companion for beginners and experienced runners alike. It includes built in GPS, wrist-based heart rate monitoring, pace and distance tracking, and new quick workout tools that generate workout suggestions based on a runner’s preferred duration and intensity level.

Users can also access Garmin Coach training plans that adapt daily according to recovery and health metrics. The updated Garmin Run Coach now includes run and walk workouts as well as lower volume training plans for users easing into fitness goals. Daily suggested workouts also adapt after every run to better match performance and recovery.

The Forerunner 70 additionally introduces advanced training metrics powered by Garmin Human Performance Lab, including training readiness, training status, wrist based running power, and running dynamics. Beyond running, users can choose from over 80 built in sports apps covering activities such as swimming, cycling, and strength training.

Health and wellness tracking remains a major focus with features including advanced sleep tracking, sleep coaching, heart rate variability status, breathing variations, Pulse Ox monitoring, lifestyle logging, and Health Status insights available around the clock.

The smartwatch also supports smart notifications, LiveTrack, safety features, and tracking tools to help users stay connected while training.

The Forerunner 70 delivers up to 13 days of battery life in smartwatch mode and will be available in colour options including citron, soft pink, tidal blue, cool lavender, black, and whitestone.

Meanwhile, the Garmin Forerunner 170 expands on the Forerunner 70 with additional convenience features such as Garmin Pay contactless payments, allowing runners to make purchases directly from their wrist using supported banks and payment networks.

For runners who prefer phone free music during workouts, the Garmin Forerunner 170 Music allows users to download songs, podcasts, and playlists from supported third party music services for listening through wireless headphones.

Both the Forerunner 170 and Forerunner 170 Music offer up to 10 days of battery life in smartwatch mode. Colour options for the Forerunner 170 include black with a black and amp yellow band as well as whitestone with a whitestone and cloud blue band. The music edition also introduces brighter colour combinations such as teal green with teal green and citron, alongside red pink with red pink and mango.

The new smartwatches will be available in Singapore from 29 May 2026. The Forerunner 70 is priced at SGD349, while the Forerunner 170 retails at SGD419 and the Forerunner 170 Music at SGD479.

Consumers can purchase the devices through Garmin Brand Stores, Garmin Online Store, Lazada Singapore, Shopee Singapore, Takashimaya, and selected authorised retailers.
