Bioderma Launches Photoderm XDefense SPF50 Plus in Singapore to Combat Sun and Pollution

Last week on 6 May, we attended an exclusive launch event for the new Bioderma Photoderm XDefense SPF50 plus sunscreen at the Fortuna Terrazza Cafe in Singapore. The event introduced a next generation suncare innovation tailored specifically to combat global heat, rising pollution, intense UV rays, and constant screen exposure that silently take a toll on our skin.

Around one in two French people and four out of five Brazilians believe the sun is only dangerous when it is at its zenith, but the risk of sun exposure is very real all year round, even on overcast days or through windows. In addition to standard UV rays, blue light and infrared radiation penetrate deep into the skin layers. These generate oxidative stress that causes pigmentation disorders and visible signs of photo ageing.

Furthermore, an alarming 99% of the world population now lives in environments where air pollution levels exceed limits recommended by the World Health Organization. When sun exposure is combined with air pollution, the resulting cocktail effect significantly increases the risk of skin cancer.

To address these compounding environmental threats, Bioderma developed the Photoderm XDefense SPF50 plus to offer an overall response to the damaging effects of excess sunlight and pollution. The new ultra lightweight sunscreen provides comprehensive broad spectrum protection alongside a detoxifying biological action.

Its Environmental Active Defense technology utilizes physical surface protection paired with biological protection from ectoin, mannitol, and a breakthrough antioxidant active called MAA. This active ingredient is ten times more powerful than vitamin E and works at the heart of the skin to neutralize oxidative stress triggered by environmental aggressors. The formula also features a Detox Science active ingredient that stimulates the natural detoxification mechanisms of the skin, resulting in a clinically proven 164% increase in detoxifying power.

Through consistent use, users can expect a 43% increase in skin radiance over 28 days. Formulated with deep respect for ecobiology, the product contains no alcohol, microplastics, or silicones, ensuring it respects both the ecosystem of the skin and aquatic ecosystems.

It is thoughtfully formulated utilising only three out of the 32 solar filters currently authorised in Europe. The result is a fluid sunscreen that is invisible on the skin, leaving no white cast and a comfortable matte finish.

Pricing and Availability

In Singapore, the Daily Detox Sunscreen retails for .90 for a 40ML bottle and is officially available at Amazon.SG, Guardian Health and Beauty, LazMall, Shopee Mall, TikTok Shop, Unity, and Watsons.
