Shoppers and thrill-seekers are in for a high-energy experience this May as The Seletar Mall transforms into a dynamic roller sports playground. From 7 to 10 May 2026, the suburban mall will host a four-day roller sports takeover, headlined by Singapore’s first-ever overnight Skatecross Downmall Challenge.
Blending sport, entertainment, and late-night lifestyle experiences, the event marks the next phase of the mall’s ongoing late-night campaign, which runs until 28 June 2026.
The highlight of the event is the Skatecross Downmall Challenge, sanctioned by the Singapore Roller Sports Federation. Taking place from 10pm on 8 May to 6am on 9 May, the race will transform the mall into a multi-level obstacle course after dark.
Participants can expect a thrilling course featuring steep ramps, technical turns, and even a custom-built giant escalator slide, turning the mall’s interior into a high-speed race track. Skaters will compete in a time-trial format across five categories: Weekend Warrior, Open, Women’s Open, Novice, and Advanced.
Younger participants aged 12 to 17 will compete in specially modified Novice and Advanced categories, ensuring a balance between challenge and safety. Winners will walk away with cash prizes, medals, and bragging rights from one of Singapore’s most unique sporting events.
Beyond the headline race, visitors can enjoy a wide range of roller sports activities throughout the four-day event. The Level 1 atrium will be converted into an open skating arena, welcoming participants of all ages and skill levels.
Inline skating tryouts will run daily, with beginner-friendly sessions guided by instructors, alongside advanced zones featuring obstacles for more experienced skaters. Equipment rentals will also be available on-site, making it easy for anyone to join in.
On 9 May, young skaters will take part in the Junior Rollercross Race, designed for children aged 4 to 12. The event includes obstacle courses and a 10-cone slalom challenge, testing both agility and precision.
Adding to the excitement, young performers will showcase their skating skills in live demonstrations.
The roller sports takeover is part of The Seletar Mall’s broader push to become a vibrant day-to-night destination. With extended operating hours, visitors can enjoy late-night dining, shopping, and entertainment alongside exclusive promotions.
Highlights include the “Midnight Locker Surprise,” where shoppers who spend at least $30 between 10pm and 3am can unlock mystery prizes, as well as a spend-and-redeem promotion offering rewards for purchases made during late-night hours.
A curated mix of tenants, including popular dining spots, fitness centres, and entertainment outlets, will remain open late, giving visitors more reasons to stay and explore.
