Carnival of Blooms Comes Alive with Guinness World Record at Takashimaya Square Ahead of Singapore Garden Festival 2026

A vibrant floral spectacle has taken centre stage in Singapore as the upcoming 10th edition of the Singapore Garden Festival (SGF) begins its celebrations with a new Guinness World Record and a colourful preview event.

Jointly organised by the National Parks Board and Gardens by the Bay, SGF 2026 will run from 4 to 12 July 2026 at Gardens by the Bay. This milestone edition promises an extraordinary floral showcase under the theme “Carnival of Blooms.”

Guinness World Record Floral Swing Unveiled

The festival kicked off early with a special launch event at Takashimaya Square B2, held from 12 to 15 March 2026. The highlight of the launch was a towering 5-metre floral swing that successfully set the Guinness World Record for “Most Flowers on a Swing.”

The stunning installation features 12,888 flowers across more than 60 varieties, including roses, carnations, lilies, orchids and hydrangeas. The intricate arrangement was brought to life through a collective effort by around 200 community gardeners, students, volunteers and NParks staff, who worked together over two days to assemble the breathtaking display.

Visitors can view the record-breaking floral swing and enjoy a preview of what SGF 2026 will offer until 15 March.

Floral Displays, Talks and Carnival Fun

The launch event also offers visitors a glimpse into the floral artistry that will define SGF 2026. One highlight is an orchid display featuring 20 celebrity and heritage orchids, including hybrids named after Singaporean singer-songwriter Stefanie Sun and Korean actor Bae Yong Jun.

Daily free floral talks, demonstrations and workshops are also being held, allowing visitors to learn horticultural techniques from experts such as the Floral Designers Society (Singapore) and the Singapore Penjing & Stone Appreciation Society.

Adding to the festive atmosphere are carnival-themed attractions including fairground swings, interactive photo walls, and kid-friendly games such as Coconut Shy and Hoopla. A MarketPlace featuring 14 booths also offers a curated selection of plants and lifestyle products from Singapore and across the region, including vendors from Japan, Malaysia and Taiwan.

Tickets for SGF 2026 are now on sale. Visitors who purchase tickets at the launch event can enjoy a 20% discount, bringing prices to $18, and will receive three complimentary flower stalks from the Flower Bar while stocks last.

Singapore Garden Festival Returns for 10th Edition

When SGF 2026 opens at Gardens by the Bay in July, visitors can expect a spectacular showcase of tropical horticulture, landscape design and floral artistry created by leading international designers and local talents.

A festival highlight since SGF’s debut in 2006, the Show Gardens competition returns with a special All-Stars Edition to celebrate the festival’s 10th anniversary. Eight past “Best of Show” winners will compete for the prestigious Pinnacle Award, collaborating with local implementing partners to create inspiring garden installations.

Returning designers include Singapore’s John Tan, who won Best of Show in 2010, and Eliam Eng and Andy Eng, winners in 2022, alongside designers from the United States, United Kingdom, Italy, South Africa, Japan and Malaysia.

World-Class Floral Competitions and Orchid Displays

Festival-goers can also look forward to the Floral Windows to the World Championship (FWWC), where 17 international floral masters will compete across six elimination rounds over three days. The competition culminates in a live final where the top three finalists battle for the Grand Champion title during the FWWC Finals Dinner.

The Singapore Orchid Show, organised in partnership with the Orchid Society of South East Asia, will also return. The exhibition will feature rare, unique and award-winning orchids cultivated by hobbyists and industry professionals worldwide.

Complementing this is the Orchid Extravaganza at the Flower Dome, spotlighting Indonesia’s rich botanical diversity with over 7,000 orchids representing seven regions of the country. The display incorporates traditional cultural elements such as anyaman woven artworks, Sumbanese houses, Balinese Meru towers, and decorative motifs inspired by Toba Batak patterns and ikat designs.

Immersive Gardens and Festival Activities

New themed spaces such as the Interactive Light Garden, Nature Playgarden, and Sensory Garden will offer immersive experiences designed to engage visitors of all ages and encourage deeper connections with nature.

Other highlights across the festival include the 14th International FDSS Cup Floral Designing Competition, Community Garden Edibles Competition, Singapore Gardeners’ Cup, Landscape Design Challenge, and the Penjing and Artistic Stone Exhibition Competition.

With its record-breaking launch and a packed programme of international competitions, immersive gardens and floral artistry, SGF 2026 is set to be one of Singapore’s most spectacular celebrations of horticulture and nature.

Tickets are available online and at the Takashimaya Square launch event from 12 to 15 March.
