Saigon Marina IFC Lights Up Ho Chi Minh City Skyline on Lunar New Year’s Eve

The skyline of Ho Chi Minh City dazzled in spectacular fashion during Lunar New Year’s Eve as a breathtaking fireworks display erupted from the crown of Saigon Marina IFC, marking a defining moment for the city’s newest architectural icon.

Launched high above the Saigon River, the fireworks illuminated the southern metropolis in a radiant celebration that was broadcast live nationwide on VTV1. Millions of viewers across the country witnessed the shimmering spectacle as the city welcomed the New Year in a blaze of light and colour.

But the evening was more than a festive countdown. It symbolised the rise of a new landmark poised to shape the city’s future.

A New Financial and Architectural Beacon

Positioned along the Saigon River in the historic Ba Son district, once the industrial and maritime heart of the city for more than two centuries, Saigon Marina IFC is envisioned as a future International Financial Center. Designed to serve as a premium commercial hub, the development aims to support financial institutions, attract international investors, and facilitate cross-border capital flows in the years to come.

On this celebratory night, the tower glowed like a beacon of ambition. Reflections from the fireworks shimmered across the river’s surface, reinforcing the symbolism of renewal and forward momentum for one of Southeast Asia’s fastest-growing cities.

A Fusion of Light, Art and Symbolism

Surrounding the tower was a contemporary light-art installation where architectural design, advanced lighting technology, and the natural reflections of the river combined to create an immersive visual experience. At the heart of the display stood the Golden Horse installation, representing prosperity, strength, and new beginnings, echoing the optimism of the New Year.

As fireworks burst from the tower’s peak and cascaded across the night sky, the display carried a powerful message of aspiration and confidence. Organisers described the moment as “where the lights of the past, present, and future shine together,” highlighting the project’s ambition to bridge heritage and modernity.

Joining the Ranks of Global Icons

Around the world, fireworks from landmark towers have become defining symbols of global cities, from the annual New Year’s Eve celebrations at Taipei 101 to the renowned light spectacles at Burj Khalifa. Such displays are more than celebrations; they are declarations of a city’s global stature and forward vision.
