From Edible Beauty to Skincare SSUNSU Launches Ginseng Powered Sun Protection in Singapore

SSUNSU is a modern Korean beauty brand that focuses on incorporating 6 year aged Korean red ginseng into daily wellness and skincare routines. Originally gaining traction with a single ingestible product, the brand has now expanded into a broader ecosystem designed to address skin health both internally and externally.

Their latest release in Singapore, the Dew Shield Niacin and Ginseng Moisture Sunscreen, marks a move toward providing a full ginseng powered system for local consumers. Founded by entrepreneur Jenny You, the brand aims to make traditional ginseng more accessible by removing the bitter, medicinal qualities typically associated with the heritage ingredient.

The brand first established itself through the Glow Up Hyalu and Ginseng Beauty Skincare Jelly, which has sold over 420,000 sachets to date. This “snackable beauty” product is a Jeju citrus flavored jelly that combines fermented red ginseng with hyaluronic acid, collagen peptides, and glutathione. It is intended as a convenient supplement for those looking to integrate antioxidants into their diet without the harsh taste of traditional extracts. A box of 14 sachets is available for $49.90.

The topical side of the range includes the Glow Up Niacin and Ginseng Serum, which is priced at $36.00. This serum follows the brand’s formulation standard of replacing ordinary purified water with ginseng water to increase the concentration of functional ingredients. Containing 2% niacinamide and fermented ginseng, the serum is designed to brighten the complexion and support the skin barrier without adding unnecessary complexity to a skincare routine. It provides a lightweight layer of hydration that complements the brand’s other topical offerings.

Completing the current trio of sampled items is the new Dew Shield Niacin and Ginseng Moisture Sunscreen SPF50 PA++++, retailing for $38.00. This sunscreen features a base of 62% ginseng water and is enriched with 2% niacinamide. The formula is specifically engineered to be ultra lightweight and invisible, ensuring it leaves no white cast after application. Beyond UV protection, it is water resistant and reef safe, making it a practical choice for daily wear in Singapore’s climate.

By combining these three products, SSUNSU seeks to offer a straightforward approach to beauty that utilises fermented ginseng for enhanced bioavailability.
