A Festive CNY Buffet Experience with Rooftop Views at Verandah Rooftop Rotisserie

I wasn’t expecting anything extraordinary from another Chinese New Year buffet, but Verandah Rooftop Rotisserie truly proved me wrong. From the menu to the presentation, everything felt carefully crafted for the festive season.

The buffet dinner is available on Chinese New Year’s Eve and the first day of Chinese New Year, as well as every Friday to Sunday in February, from 6 to 10pm, making it perfect for both family gatherings and weekend celebrations.

Set against a relaxed rooftop backdrop overlooking the pool and skyline, the space felt welcoming and comfortable for a reunion-style meal. The view from the rooftop is stunning, and after dinner, you can step outside for a short walk along the deck.

I started the buffet with the two tableside-served items. The Braised Eight-Head Abalone came with US asparagus and was tender and rich, braised in a flavourful jus that I really enjoyed.

The Golden Lava Cheese Baked Lobster was coated in a golden salted egg sauce and tasted really premium. It was definitely best eaten hot and every bite was delicious.

For the cold appetisers, I really enjoyed how much thought went into the traditional flavours. The Duo of Murotsu Oysters was a highlight, and I especially liked the Teochew-style cured version. The Drunken Chicken with aged Shaoxing and wolfberries was simple but tasty, with just the right balance of flavours. The Cold Pork Trotter Jelly with pickled mustard greens had a nice texture and tang that cut through the richness of the other dishes.

The live action kitchen was where the experience got really fun. The 14-Day Shio Kombu Butter-aged Angus Ribeye is cooked right in front of you and you can choose how you want it done. It quickly became my favourite and I kept going back for more.

The Burnt Black Garlic Iberian Pork Char Siew, the Vanilla-scented Crackling Pork Belly, and the ‘Sha Pi’ Suckling Pig are also carved or served fresh from the station. The char siew was full of deep, smoky sweetness, while the crackling pork belly was rich with subtle vanilla notes that lifted the flavour. The suckling pig had crisp golden skin and tender meat underneath.

Among the hot dishes, I enjoyed how the menu covered land, sea and vegetables, reinforcing that sense of abundance. The “Dong Po” Wagyu Beef Karubi was fork-tender after its long braise while the Longevity Noodles with crab roe and trout caviar felt like a creative take on a traditional dish, almost like pasta but not, and the sauce was rich and delicious

Desserts were where the Chinese New Year theme really came alive. I was immediately drawn to the Koi Fish Osmanthus Jelly, which was delicate, pretty, and perfectly on-theme, symbolising prosperity and good fortune. Some of the flavours sounded unusual at first, like the Persimmon Creme Brulee and Mandarin Orange Mousse with pomelo, but they were actually really enjoyable. They even had a dedicated table just for Chinese New Year treats, including Nian Gao, Silky Yam Puree, and an assortment of festive cookies.

If dining out isn’t on the cards, Verandah Rooftop Rotisserie also offers festive takeaway options, including yusheng, Lap Mei Fan and their signature roasts, allowing families to enjoy restaurant-quality dishes at home.
