National Gallery Singapore to Present Southeast Asia’s Largest Pop Art Group Exhibition This December

National Gallery Singapore will present Pop after Pop: Art around Us, the largest group exhibition of Pop Art and its legacy ever staged in Southeast Asia, opening on 11 December 2026. The landmark exhibition will feature more than 200 artworks by over 100 artists, primarily from Southeast Asia and the United States, spanning four exhibition spaces and various public areas across the Gallery.

Presented by National Gallery Singapore in collaboration with the Solomon R. Guggenheim Foundation in New York, the exhibition marks the first partnership between the two institutions. It brings together key works from the Guggenheim’s collection alongside pieces from the National Gallery Singapore and loans from private and institutional collections, offering visitors a broad exploration of one of the most influential artistic movements of the 20th century.

Through iconic artworks, immersive installations and references to popular culture, Pop after Pop: Art around Us explores how artists transformed everyday images, objects and experiences into thought provoking reflections of society. The exhibition showcases paintings, sculptures, prints, installations and moving image works that examine the relationship between art, popular culture and daily life.

Visitors can look forward to works by internationally acclaimed artists including Roy Lichtenstein, Andy Warhol and Barbara Kruger, alongside prominent Southeast Asian artists such as Singapore’s Ming Wong, the Philippines’ Antipas Delotavo, Indonesia’s FX Harsono and Thailand’s Manit Sriwanichpoom. Together, these artists offer diverse perspectives on how Pop Art has evolved across different cultural and political contexts.

While recognising the origins of the Pop Art movement in Britain and its rapid development in the United States, the exhibition also highlights how artists across Southeast Asia reinterpreted its visual language through local popular culture, advertising, mass media and urban life. Their works reflect the region’s unique political landscapes, social transformations and cultural identities, demonstrating how familiar imagery was adapted to address issues relevant to their own communities.

By bringing together celebrated international works with significant contributions from Southeast Asia, Pop after Pop: Art around Us adds a regional perspective to the global conversation on Pop Art while exploring the movement’s continued relevance in contemporary society.

The exhibition runs from 11 December 2026 to 4 April 2027 across the Singtel Special Exhibition Galleries 1 and 2, Special Exhibition Gallery 3 on Level 3, the Ngee Ann Kongsi Gallery on Level B1 and selected public spaces throughout National Gallery Singapore.

Admission to the exhibition requires a Special Exhibition ticket, priced at S$15 for Singaporeans and Permanent Residents and S$25 for foreign residents and tourists. Gallery Insiders members enjoy unlimited complimentary access to the exhibition, with annual memberships available at S$20 for Singaporeans and Permanent Residents and S$35 for foreign residents and tourists.

Pop after Pop: Art around Us is supported by Series Partner Singtel and Lead Partner J.P. Morgan.
