Warm Up Your Chinese New Year with Yunnan-Inspired Hotpot at Broth & Beyond

I visited Broth & Beyond at CHIJMES and was immediately struck by the space. The space is stunning, with green chairs, gold accents, and flowers and trees everywhere, giving it a lively yet cosy nonya feel. It felt like the perfect place to celebrate the season with a warm Yunnan-inspired hotpot dinner.

Their CNY specials run from 15 January to 28 February 2026, making it a great spot for reunion dinners or festive catch-ups.

Each diner gets their own individual hotpot, which makes the experience feel personal and comfortable. There is a wide variety of broth flavours to choose from, and you can go for a single broth or try a dual soup if you want the best of both worlds.

We went for one of their signature dual pots, pairing the comforting Chicken and Tomato base with their new Clam Broth. The clam broth was really interesting, packed with lots of clams and rich, thick, and full of umami.

Broth & Beyond’s Yunnan roots really shine through, especially with their Macaron Mushroom Set.

This one is seriously stunning, presented in a glass square container with dry ice effects flowing out, making it feel almost magical. The mushrooms are delicately arranged, and the colours really pop. I tried varieties I had never had before, from trumpet-shaped Ji You Huang to the blush Powder Wood Ear, and each had its own texture and earthy flavour. Paired with the rich, slow-simmered broths, you can really taste the wildness in each mushroom.

The Flame-Grilled Wagyu Beef was such a treat to watch and eat.

It came on a hotstone with little flames flickering around it, and I couldn’t help but pause for a moment to admire it. The beef was tender and melt-in-your-mouth, with a smoky char and a really punchy peppery kick that lingered just the right amount. The Yunnan sauce added a rich, savoury layer that made each bite even more satisfying.

I also tried the Braised Rice with Porcini Mushrooms, and the truffle aroma really came through. It was cooked claypot-style, so the rice had that slightly smoky, crispy bottom, and each mouthful was fragrant and full of umami.

The Perfume Chicken Strips, marinated with Yunnan perfume lemons, were tender and springy with a subtle citrus fragrance.

The Spring Blossom Trio Noodles were just so pretty, with colours naturally from beetroot and dragonfruit.

You could tell they were handmade from the slightly uneven, delicate texture, and they were lightly springy. I loved cooking them in my soup and watching them soak up all the flavours.

One of the highlights of the meal is the free-flow section.

On one side, there’s a whole spread of sauces, from sesame sauce to a special lamb sauce and plenty of other interesting flavours. It’s fun to mix and match, and I found myself experimenting with different combinations for my meal and noodles.

On the other side, the desserts are just as creative; you can make your own soyabeancurd mix with chopped fruits, popping boba, assorted cookies, and sweet sauces. I had so much fun customising my little bowl and tasting all the different textures and flavours.

The free-flow wine is an add-on at .90 and offers eight carefully selected wines.

Highlights include a rare Ningxia Cabernet Sauvignon, the premium Hauts De Fontey Cabernet Sauvignon, and the refreshing J’Peux Pas J’ai Rosé Méditerranée. It’s a pretty interesting offering, because free-flow wine in Singapore hotpot spots isn’t something you see often.

For a festive touch, Broth & Beyond also offers the Prosperity Mixian Lohei, available from 15 January to 28 February 2026, priced at .80 for 4–6 pax.

This unique take on the traditional lohei features Yunnan-style smooth rice noodles paired with 10 varieties of premium Yunnan mushrooms. The mushrooms add an earthy, umami twist that isn’t usually seen in lohei, making it a fresh and interesting variation. The dish is finished with a housemade plum sauce infused with Yunnan orange peel, giving it a fragrant and slightly piquant flavour. It can be enjoyed three ways: tossed in the classic lohei style, cooked with the mushrooms in the signature broths, or eaten with fresh Mixian noodles on the side.
