Get ready to be lit, quite literally! Because i Light Singapore (iLSG) 2025 is back from 29 May to 21 June. Organised by the Urban Redevelopment Authority (URA), the festival spans 17 stunning light art installations around Marina Bay, South Beach, Singapore River and (for the first time ever!) Raffles Place.

In celebration of SG60, iLSG 2025 anchors on the theme, “To Gather”, inviting all to enjoy new, luminous experiences. The installations stimulate collective reflection on our shared journey towards a sustainable future from refreshing and unconventional perspectives.

Here are some not-to-miss highlights at i Lights.

👽 Fantastic Planet by Amanda Parer

Fantastic Planet – What’s That by Amanda Parer.

This one literally stopped us in our tracks. Giant glowing humanoids (think 5-storey tall inflatable aliens) have landed at Marina Bay and they’re just lying around, watching us.

Dash to Cart

Fantastic Planet by Amanda Parer is a prominent series of light art installations this season, featuring three towering humanoid figures along Marina Bay that cast an otherworldly presence over visitors. These “aliens” observe us, probing us to reconsider our position in the universe and impact on the planet.

Sounds creepy? It’s actually oddly peaceful. Standing in front of these quiet giants made us feel tiny like we’re just one small part of this big, beautiful world. You’ll want to snap a photo, but also take a moment to just… reflect. Amanda Parer’s intentions manifested through a quiet introspection, and served as a reminder of the magnitude of this planet, and how small we are in the face of an entity so magnificent.

From alien calm to campfire chaos, Sign is another crowd favourite. Imagine a massive illusion of fire that glows and flickers like the real thing! It draws you in from across the river. Even better? It’s near Campfyre @ Nomads, a super chill hangout zone with light bites and drinks.

iLSG encompasses an inspiring experience for all visitors. That includes interactive art forms like In Tadem by Lee Si Heidi, Rae Koh, and Leela Rao. This luminous sphere syncs the pulses of all visitors touching it, translating their heartbeats into synchronised light and sound patterns.

It’s an impactful installation created by students from Nanyang Technological University that shows us how beautiful it can be to be part of the art together.

In tandem with the light installations, iLSG 2025 has prepared a myriad of initiatives and programmes to bring everyone together. In numbers, we can make real change in the ways we approach a sustainable future.

For the first time, iLSG will be staging a Silent Disco Parade, where participants can groove their way around the bay together, while marvelling at the Festival’s stunning light installations and the city’s gorgeous city skyline. This dance parade will kick off at ArtScience Museum, and conclude at The Promontory.

Look out for Cloud City: Built with AI, a phygital showcase presented by Alibaba Cloud, a key sustainability partner for iLSG 2025. Visitors can upload photos of themselves at this attraction to generate a scene depicting their lives in a future world. Powered by Alibaba’s generative AI technology, this initiative probes visitors to envision how innovation transforms urban landscapes to create a greener future.
