Vietjet Launches Vietjet Qazaqstan in Strategic Move to Expand into Central Asia

Vietjet has officially announced the launch of its newest international airline brand, Vietjet Qazaqstan, in a landmark collaboration with Kazakhstan’s Qazaq Air. Unveiled during the Kazakhstan–Vietnam Business Roundtable, the announcement coincided with the state visit of Vietnamese General Secretary To Lam to the Republic of Kazakhstan, symbolizing a new era of diplomatic and economic cooperation between the two nations.

The partnership was formalized as Vietnam’s Ministry of Finance granted a Foreign Investment Registration Certificate to Vietjet’s subsidiary, Aviation Holdings, allowing it to acquire a strategic equity stake in Qazaq Air. The venture is a significant milestone in Vietjet’s global expansion strategy and aims to deepen bilateral ties while boosting connectivity, tourism, and trade across Central and Southeast Asia.

Vietjet CEO Dinh Viet Phuong and Qazaq Air CEO Adilbek Umraliyev exchange the cooperation agreement, witnessed by Vietnam General Secretary To Lam, Kazakhstan Deputy Prime Minister Yermek Kosherbayev, and Vietnam Deputy Prime Minister-Foreign Minister Bui Thanh Son

Vietjet Qazaqstan will build on the foundation of Qazaq Air, evolving into a new-age low-cost carrier designed to connect Kazakhstan with Vietnam, Southeast Asia, and key global hubs. The airline is expected to drive regional economic growth, generate thousands of high-quality jobs, and strengthen Kazakhstan’s position as a regional aviation hub.

As a new-age low-cost airline, Vietjet Qazaqstan is expected to become a strategic air bridge connecting Kazakhstan and Vietnam

In support of the new venture, Vietjet Qazaqstan also signed a Customer Services General Terms Agreement with Boeing to provide critical support for its future fleet of at least 20 Boeing 737 aircraft. The agreement includes spare parts supply, technical assistance, software solutions, pilot and engineer training, and aircraft upgrades — ensuring safe, efficient, and modern operations.

Backed by Vietjet’s experience in advanced airline operations, digital management, and international partnerships, Vietjet Qazaqstan will adopt state-of-the-art operational models and a forward-thinking workforce development approach. This move echoes the successful model of Vietjet Thailand, which has grown into one of the country’s leading low-cost carriers.
