The ninth edition of the Singapore Garden Festival (SGF) has kicked off at the Suntec Singapore Convention & Exhibition Centre, showcasing the horticultural talents of community gardeners from across the island. This year’s festival is a vibrant celebration of community spirit, creativity, and sustainability, highlighted by the Singapore Gardeners’ Cup.
South East District Takes the Crown
The spotlight of the event was the South East district, whose “Funtastical Forest” garden display not only won the prestigious Best of Show award but also secured a Gold award. This enchanting display featured a fantasy forest with an upside-down tank, aquarium, paludarium, and terrariums, demonstrating innovative ways to create a miniature forest at home.
Community Efforts in the Limelight
Over 200 community gardeners participated in the Singapore Gardeners’ Cup, contributing five distinct garden displays. These displays were crafted with the theme “Botanical Fun,” emphasizing the integration of environmental sustainability through the use of upcycled materials such as aluminum cans and glass bottles.
Awards Ceremony
Ms. Indranee Rajah, Minister in the Prime Minister’s Office and Second Minister for Finance & National Development, presented the awards. She also honored winners of the Community in Bloom Garden of the Year Awards 2024, further celebrating the community’s dedication to enhancing Singapore’s green spaces.
