The National Library Board (NLB) has teamed up with three homegrown furniture brands to transform library spaces, offering patrons a stylish new environment to enjoy reading. This initiative not only enhances the reading experience but also supports a good cause.
Introducing Community TakeOver
Community TakeOver opens library spaces for more partners to showcase their products, services, and brand stories. With the help of Enterprise Singapore, NLB collaborated with FortyTwo, HomestoLife, and ipse ipsa ipsum to furnish selected public libraries with locally-designed sofas, armchairs, coffee tables, and more. From today, you can find their furniture featured at the following libraries:
- ipse ipsa ipsum at Central Public Library
- FortyTwo at Jurong West Public Library
- HomestoLife at Serangoon Public Library
Read for Books – A Charitable Reading Initiative
NLB is also launching its annual book donation drive, Read for Books, from July 1 to 31, 2024, as part of the National Reading Movement. During this period, for every 10 participants who read for 15 minutes, NLB’s book donors will donate one book or its equivalent to the board’s beneficiaries. Patrons can participate anywhere, including at the office with colleagues or at one of the newly refreshed Community TakeOver spaces.
To participate in Read for Books, patrons can register their interest online, read for 15 minutes, snap photos of their reading session, and submit them. This year’s beneficiaries include MINDSG Ltd and the nationwide reading initiative kidsREAD, among others. Supporting organizations include Bubbly Books, Focus Publishing, Mitsubishi RTM, POPULAR, Read with You, Scholastic Asia, and the Singapore Book Publishers Association.
