Singapore is gearing up for its largest-ever representation at an international indoor skydiving competition as 21 athletes from the city-state prepare to take flight at the 5th FAI World Cup of Indoor Skydiving (WCIS) in Macau, China. This impressive contingent includes six individual indoor skydiving athletes and four teams of professional skydivers who hone their skills at iFly Singapore, the country’s premier indoor skydiving facility.

Running from April 18 to April 20, the biennial WCIS will see over 200 athletes from around the world competing, with Singaporean representatives vying for honors across six of the seven categories on offer. The event will also host the 1st FAI Asian Indoor Skydiving Championships and the 3rd FAI European Indoor Skydiving Championships.

Among the Singaporean competitors is 15-year-old sensation Kai Minejima-Lee, who is set to make his debut in the Open category of the WCIS. Kai has already made a name for himself in the indoor skydiving world, having clinched multiple titles at previous championships, including the Junior freestyle solo, 2-Way Dynamic Junior, and 4-Way Dynamic Junior categories. His teammate, Vera Poh, joins him in the Open category, bringing her own wealth of experience to the competition.

Choo Yi Xuan, a seasoned indoor skydiver and former coach of Singapore’s 2022 contingent, returns to the WCIS as a competitor this year. With a decorated career that includes winning the 2-Way Dynamic World Cup title in 2018, Yi Xuan will compete in the 4-Way Formation Skydiving women’s category alongside three professional skydivers. Additionally, she will feature in the Dynamic 4-Way (Open) category with Vera Poh, Kai Minejima-Lee, and Jordan Lee.

With Singapore’s largest-ever contingent poised to take on the world’s best indoor skydivers, anticipation is high for an exhilarating display of skill and athleticism at the 5th FAI World Cup of Indoor Skydiving.
