In a move to promote inclusivity and empower women, Grab has unveiled its Women Programme in Singapore. This initiative, announced during Grab’s Women Partner Appreciation Event on March 6, aims to reduce barriers for women seeking flexible income opportunities by offering tailored features, mentorship programs, and community support.
Aligned with the theme of “Inspire Inclusion” for International Women’s Day, Grab’s Women Programme introduces several innovative initiatives. One notable feature is the Women Passengers Preferred (BETA) option, exclusively available to women driver-partners. This feature allows female drivers to prioritize matching with female passengers, enhancing safety and comfort for both drivers and riders.
Recognizing the unique challenges faced by women in joining the platform, Grab has developed comprehensive training programs and community activities. These initiatives aim to equip women with the necessary skills and confidence to thrive as driver- and delivery-partners. Key components of the Women Programme include:
Women-Only Online Community and Info Sessions: Grab will establish online communities to facilitate networking and support among women partners. Monthly info-sharing sessions will also be conducted to provide updates and insights on Grab’s latest developments.
Safety and Confidence Training: To address safety concerns, Grab will roll out specialized training modules designed to help women drivers navigate challenging situations and utilize Grab’s safety features effectively.
Expansion of Women Co-pilot Programme: This initiative pairs new women driver-partners with experienced mentors to guide them through the onboarding process and offer practical advice for navigating the platform.
Tailored Welfare Benefits: Grab will enhance welfare benefits tailored to the needs of women driver- and delivery-partners, including healthcare checks and other perks.
Additionally, Grab is collaborating with the Lee Kuan Yew Centre for Innovative Cities at the Singapore University of Technology and Design (SUTD) to explore opportunities for expanding women drivers’ income streams. Through this partnership, participating women drivers will receive personalized guidance to identify and pursue additional income-generating opportunities.
To raise awareness for the Women Programme, Grab has launched the #WomenWelcome campaign, coinciding with International Women’s Day. This campaign includes a thematic film highlighting the challenges women face in pursuing driving as a career and Grab’s commitment to fostering a more inclusive environment.
