Singapore Airshow 2024 has made history with its ninth edition, boasting the strongest trade attendance ever recorded. The four-day event, held at the Changi Exhibition Centre from February 20 to 23, 2024, saw nearly 60,000 trade attendees, marking a significant 10% increase compared to the previous high in 2018. This remarkable turnout signals a promising resurgence and recovery in the aerospace sector across the Asia Pacific region, which is poised to witness over 45% of new aircraft deliveries between 2023 and 2042.
Since its inception in 2008, the Singapore Airshow has been a pivotal platform fostering collaboration and driving innovation in the aerospace and defense industries. Bringing together industry leaders, government officials, and military delegations, the event serves as a nexus for networking and the exchange of ideas.
AeroForum, the Airshow’s thought-leadership forum, hosted a multitude of strategic conversations with close to 600 trade attendees participating in nine panel discussions featuring 36 speakers and 10 moderators. In collaboration with esteemed industry partners, discussions covered a wide array of topics including aviation leadership, sustainable aviation, advanced air mobility, and China-Singapore bilateral aviation.
Throughout the event, several major announcements were made, highlighting the industry’s commitment to sustainability and innovation. Airbus unveiled plans for carbon neutrality by 2050 and announced a partnership with TotalEnergies to supply sustainable aviation fuel (SAF). Boeing outlined its vision for autonomous flights by 2030, while Embraer forged a strategic partnership with Scoot to optimize inventory management.
The Airshow also witnessed significant aircraft orders from Asia-based airlines, including Starlux Airlines and Vietjet Air, further underscoring the region’s pivotal role in the aviation industry’s recovery.
