Navigating the world of dating is an adventure, and who better to share that journey with than your trusted friends? It’s no surprise that over 75% of singles regularly engage in lively discussions about their dating escapades. Now, in an exciting development, Tinder, the world’s leading dating app, is adding a new twist to the dating experience with the launch of Tinder Matchmaker. This fresh feature allows friends and family to offer their input by recommending potential matches for a user.
Turning Dating into a Team Sport
Tinder Matchmaker is like inviting your friends to play the role of your personal dating advisors, integrating the age-old “friend test” into the Tinder experience. Whether your friends have a Tinder profile or not, they can now join in on the fun. By inviting others to view and suggest potential matches, Tinder users get valuable insights into who their friends think might be a good fit. However, just as in real life, the ultimate decision to send a Like remains with the user.

A Friend in Swipe
Interestingly, a recent survey by Tinder revealed that Gen Zs across the Asia-Pacific region are no strangers to letting their friends play cupid on dating apps. More than a third (32%) have swiped right for a friend, and nearly a third (29%) have handed the matchmaking reins over to their pals.
Almost half (47%) have eagerly shared a profile of an attractive potential match with a friend, and close to half (46%) have joined a friend on a dating app to browse through profiles together.
Matchmaking Monarch: Coi Leray
To help users and their personal matchmakers get acquainted with this new digital dating dynamic, Tinder has enlisted the help of rapper Coi Leray. She understands that modern dating can be complicated not just for individuals but for their friends too. Your bestie’s latest match could potentially become a part of your crew, and that’s a big deal. That’s why Coi Leray has been named the Matchmaking Monarch of Tinder Court, where she emphasizes the power of the “friend test” in exciting digital content.
How Does Tinder Matchmaker Work?
Here’s a quick rundown of how Tinder Matchmaker operates:
- To start a Tinder Matchmaker session, simply click on a profile card or access it within app settings. You can then share your unique link with up to 15 friends in a 24-hour period.
- When your matchmaker friends follow the link, they can either log in to Tinder or proceed as guests after age verification and agreeing to Tinder’s terms.
- Matchmakers have a 24-hour window to play cupid by recommending profiles to the Tinder user. However, they won’t be able to initiate chats or send messages on the user’s behalf.
- Once the session concludes, Tinder users can review the profiles their matchmakers have Liked for them. Profiles that received a Like from a matchmaker will be marked as a “recommendation.”
- The final decision still rests with the Tinder user, but now they’ll know who their friends are rooting for.

Tinder Matchmaker is already available in several countries, including the United States, Australia, Brazil, Canada, France, Germany, India, Indonesia, Japan, Mexico, South Korea, Spain, Thailand, the United Kingdom, and Vietnam. It will soon be available to Tinder users worldwide in the coming months.
