In conjunction with Shark Awareness Day, premium lifestyle destination, Resorts World Sentosa (RWS) adds two exciting new offerings to its range of scuba diving programmes at S.E.A. Aquarium (S.E.A.), allowing you to learn about the oft-misunderstood sea creatures, and further connect with the wonders of the ocean.
The new AWARE Shark Conservation Specialty course and PADI Discover Scuba Diving programme offer unique opportunities for marine life lovers to explore the captivating world below. These new offerings further demonstrate RWS’ commitment to providing immersive experiences that deepen participants’ appreciation for marine life and promote conservation efforts.
Designed for certified divers aged 12 years and above, you will learn about the importance of shark conservation during the AWARE Shark Conservation Specialty course. Be rewarded with an unparalleled experience of swimming alongside over 100 sharks from 12 different species, including the endangered Scalloped Hammerhead shark, Silvertip shark, and Sandbar shark in the Shark Seas Habitat at S.E.A. Aquarium.
In addition to the exhilarating dive with the spectacular resident sharks, you will learn the value of sharks to marine ecosystems and economies, the causes of declining shark populations, and how one can become a proud shark defender.
These “apex predators”, at an astounding rate, fall prey to commercial and recreational fishing, and the course aims to raise awareness of these threats. The course adheres to comprehensive AWARE guidelines, including resources such as the AWARE Shark Conservation Study Guide, and AWARE Shark Conservation Lesson Guide to Impact on Sharks.
The AWARE Shark Conservation Specialty course is priced at S$488 per head for an eight-hour session. Sessions are held Tuesdays to Fridays with each session accommodating up to four participants.
Non-Divers and PADI Beginners
To encourage the curious yet uninitiated to take their first plunge into this breathtaking activity, S.E.A. Aquarium’s PADI Discover Scuba Diving is designed for non-divers aged 10 years and above. The session makes the perfect introduction to the world beneath the waves, aiming to eventually inspire in participants a love for the oceans and marine life.
Under the expert guidance of experienced PADI (Professional Association of Diving Instructors) professionals at RWS, participants will receive an overview of important diving concepts as well as essential skills, such as air monitoring, and equalisation techniques.
Following the theory introduction and knowledge review, take your first-ever dive underwater in the Open Ocean Habitat, the largest habitat within S.E.A. Aquarium. Descending up to 12 meters, the first-time divers will be enthralled by the magnificent manta rays, groupers, and other mesmerising schools of fish, creating memories worth reliving over and over.
Throughout the session, you will have fun picking up and practising new scuba skills while getting to know and develop a heartfelt appreciation for the underwater world. You will also be presented with a certificate upon completion of the course.
The PADI Discover Scuba Diving programme is priced from S$299 per head for a two-hour session. Sessions are held Tuesdays to Fridays with each session accommodating up to four participants.
