Food from the Heart partners with Wearnes Automotive Singapore (Venue Partner) to organise its largest drive-through food donation drive, HEART ON WHEELS. In conjunction with Food from the Heart’s 20th anniversary milestone, HEART ON WHEELS seeks to raise 25,000 food items for its beneficiaries islandwide.
The food donation drive will be held on 4 to 5 March 2023 at Wearnes Automotive Singapore, and will be graced by Guest of Honour, Mr Eric Chua, Senior Parliamentary Secretary, Ministry of Culture, Community and Youth and Ministry of Social and Family Development.
Founded in 2003 by Singapore-based Austrian couple Henry and Christine Laimer, Food from the Heart originally aimed to channel surplus bread to individuals and families in need. Now, the charity has evolved and broadened its focus to alleviating hunger for the less fortunate, with initiatives to consistently provide food for its beneficiaries through the power of community.
Over the two-day event, Food from the Heart aims to raise 25,000 in food items, including rice, cooking oil, assorted canned foods, instant noodles, Milo, coffee, tea, oats, cereal, biscuits, and bread spreads.
Members of the public, schools, businesses, and corporations can show their support for the event by driving through to donate and arrange the delivery of food, or organise internal food donations and fundraising drives.
Presently, Food from the Heart is providing food support to more than 60,000 beneficiaries across Singapore through their food distribution programmes and community-based initiatives, a 34% increase from pre-pandemic days. They have amassed a 10,000-strong volunteer base, who have helped to distribute S$7.2 million worth of food in 2022 alone.
