Paradise Group’s LeNu and Le Shrimp are offering these tongue-numbing dishes until 31 March 22!
Taste the flavours of China with their two new dishes Fragrant Pork Chop with Specialty Mala Dry Noodle ($13.90) and Ma Po Tofu with Minced Shrimp Ramen ($15.90).
LeNu
Fragrant Pork Chop with Specialty Mala Dry Noodle ($13.90)
Mala lovers look no further for your next spice thrill! LeNu’s mala noodles are made with their special spicy paste. It is made with a blend of 8 different spices such as dried chilli and fermented black beans which gives an umami taste that also numbs your tongue. I also loved the addition of bonito flakes which added a hint of smoky flavour which tied the whole dish together!
Their pork chop is marinated overnight in a homemade sauce so it is definitely flavourful and tender. I personally would get seconds because it was that delicious!
Japanese Scallop Dry Noodle ($11.50)
For more neutral flavours, get the Japanese Scallop Dry Noodle ($11.50). This was actually spicy but there is an option for a non spicy version. I found that it allowed me to taste the natural sweetness and umami flavours of the scallops. Sometimes basic is also delicious, the noodles tossed in their savoury sauce made for a scrumptious dish.
Side Dishes
We ordered the Fish fillet with Preserved Vegetables in Tonkotsu Broth ($14.90), which is the same addictive soup base as the one from Le Shrimp but with a different type of fish.
The other side we ordered was the Braised Wagyu Beef ($12.90) which basically melted in my mouth. The meat is braised such that the meat is extremely tender and the fats integrated into the meat itself. For someone who doesn’t eat beef frequently, this was certainly a delight. Beef lovers should give this a try!
Le Shrimp
Ma Po Tofu with Minced Shrimp Ramen ($15.90)
At Le Shrimp, they offer a spin off of the classic mapo tofu! The Ma Po Tofu with Minced Shrimp Ramen ($15.90) will set your tongue ablaze. With a myriad of ingredients, from crispy tofu skin to fresh minced prawn meat, it was definitely a wholesome meal.
The ingenious addition of sichuan pickled vegetables complemented the spice of the spicy tofu with its taste and texture. I really liked how the sourness and slight crunch from the veggies contrasted the tofu and added a different dimension to the dish. Glistening from the spicy sauce, the noodles were cooked perfectly and were pretty spicy.
Le Signature Trio Shrimp Ramen ($19.90)
We also ordered Le Signature Trio Shrimp Ramen ($19.90), my personal favourite. Their unique prawn broth is always satisfying and packs a “prawny” punch of flavour. With fresh prawns, roe balls and minced prawn, it never fails to satisfy my prawn cravings. It definitely is a classic when I visit Le Shrimp, after all it is their signature!
Side dishes
As for the side dishes, the first we chose was the Prawn Dumplings with Vinaigrette ($8.90). Filled with minced prawns, this spicy dish is great for sharing. The sour tang from the vinaigrette balanced out the spice and provided a nice contrast to enhance the dish.
The second was the Red Garoupa with Preserved Vegetables in Tonkotsu Broth ($19.90). The creaminess and umami flavour from the broth with the tender fish slices. Not only that but the addition of preserved veggies added a savoury aspect to the dish, which made for an interesting yet addictive combination. The broth was so good that we ordered it again at LeNu as well!
