[Review] Takagi Ramen’s Japanese Matcha Lava Mooncakes

In case you are doing last-minute shopping for mooncakes, check out these beautifully packaged Japanese Matcha Lava Mooncakes from homegrown ramen specialty chain, Takagi Ramen.

The mooncakes come in a set of 4 in a box and wrapped in a reusable Takagi Ramen Furoshiki (風呂敷), a traditional Japanese cloth used to wrap gifts for delivery.

According to the founders, the mooncakes were custom designed and handmade in collaboration with a halal bakery in Singapore.

Takagi Ramen is making the bold claim that this is the first-ever Matcha lava mooncake to be launched in Singapore. There is no contention to their claim so far.

Most of us are familiar with chocolate lava cake where molten chocolate will flow out from the centre when you cut it open. However, this is usually served warm. How would Matcha lava mooncake fare when we cut it open?

Here is the result:

The molten matcha in the middle oozes out nicely and is perfect for those with a sweet tooth who likes all things Japanese or matcha.

Takagi Ramen claims that they sold out their first batch within a week of launch and are now launching a second batch of the matcha mooncakes in order not to disappoint their loyal fans. Go get it if you are still undecided on which mooncake to get as gifts for family or friends.

To order.
