The prosecutor for the Filipino stewardess alleged rape-slay case said that the Philippine National Police presented insufficient evidence that Christine Dacera was raped and killed.
Citing the lack of evidence pointing to the police’s case, the prosecutor ordered the release of the three suspects in police custody. The rest of the men involved in the case have since faced media to tell their side of the story.
“After a thorough evaluation of the facts and evidence presented during inquest proceedings, the Office of the City Prosecutor, Makati City, resolved to refer the case for further investigation, and to release the arrested persons,” Prosecutor General Benedicto Malcontento said in a statement, according to the Manila Bulletin.
“At this point, the pieces of evidence so far submitted are insufficient to establish that she was sexually assaulted or raped. And, if sexual assault/rape was committed, who is/are the person/s responsible.” said the prosecutor’s resolution in a separate report.
Whether sexual violence was the reason for the aneurysm listed in Dacera’s autopsy report has not been ascertained.
“No evidence medically or scientifically was presented to prove that the cause of death or the rupture of the aortic aneurysm was by reason of the alleged rape. Likewise, if the homicide was committed, the person/s responsible is/are yet to be ascertained through further evidence.”
Who is Christine Dacera?
A previous report from Alvinology said that the 23-year-old flight stewardess for the Philippine Airlines was found dead in a hotel bath tub in City Garden Grand Hotel Makati, Philippines.
Security video footage of hotel premises showed a woman who matched her description walking down the hotel corridor with her heels in her hand. At other times on the videos, she was seen talking to different men attending the party. At some point, the video included shots of her kissing a man part of the New Year’s Eve celebrations.
Based on her social media posts, she was with eleven other men at the party.
At around 10:00 in the morning, one of her companions from the party noticed she was sleeping in the bath tub and covered her with a blanket. But later, they allegedly noticed that she had begun to turn blue and was unresponsive.
Hotel staff attempted to revive her at around noon on January 1, 2021 after a New Year’s Eve party, but to no avail.
The initial autopsy report said that she died from a “ruptured aortic aneurysm.”
Christine Dacera’s mother makes statement, second autopsy may be useless
Dacera’s mother has faced the press, saying that she has asked for a second autopsy. Here is a clip of her lamenting her daughter’s death online, which shows her crying one minute and becoming calm the next.
The Dacera family has asked for a second autopsy to be performed, and aid from President Rodrigo Duterte in finding justice for their daughter.
The suspects in the case have taken to the media to explain their side, citing that they were gay and they loved the victim, and would never harm her.
