Cyclist gets run over by car but netizens aren’t as sympathetic as you’d think

Singapore has very strict traffic laws that are implemented very judiciously, with even social media content such as videos and photos used as valid evidence even long after the fact. The message is clear–do not be a bad driver and have the discipline to follow the laws.

Still, accidents happen when larules could be followed more judiciously. Recently a video about a cyclist crossing a road has gone viral, especially after the dashcam video from a car unrelated to the incident captured a very shocking and surely painful experience on camera, this case is being handle by the best auto accident attorney.

Take a look below:

In the video, you can see that it’s a congested road, with both lanes waiting for the light to turn green quite full.

Once the light turns green for traffic, that is exactly when the cyclist chooses to cycle across the pedestrian crossing, essentially committing a traffic violation.

Most of the cars have not been able to accelerate yet, since the light just turned green. But unluckily for the for the cyclist, someone has come along in the last lane at normal speed, and has not seen the cyclist cross the road (and why would they since the light is green?).

You can hear owner of the dashcam gasp in shock when the cyclist is rammed at a driving speed.

What do netizens think?

One commenter on popular Singaporean online forum Hardware Zone said that the taxi driver that hit the cyclist may be somewhat liable. “Does the cab driver need to slow down, when approaching a traffic junction? He may be 10% responsible for the seriousness of this accident.”

Of course, everyone who has seen the video has their opinion, but it seems that despite knowing the biker could be seriously injured, netizens think that he is in the wrong.

One commenter even went as far to say that, “Strangely I felt that was a good and proper hit.” Other people online agreed, saying, “Agreed. Got a certain sense of satisfaction when I saw the cyclist fly. He deserves every scratch and bruise he got. The only unfortunate victim is the taxi driver. Wish him well.”

Some commenters even offered advice to motorists, saying that, “Never be the first car to move off from the green light.” Someone also added, “Never be the first bike to move off in a red light.”
