Are you a planner or a risk taker? This Spotify quiz helps you find out

How are your New Year’s resolutions coming along? If answering this question made you feel guilty, don’t worry, because you’re in good – or at least abundant – company, according to Spotify.

Getting in shape may be a top New Year’s resolution for many but Spotify’s internal data reveals that streaming of workout playlists do level off past February 14. In fact, according to a study published on Statistic Brain, only approximately 9.2% of people achieve their New Year goals.

How can we stay on track?

Music is a ubiquitous companion to our everyday lives. There is a song (or a playlist) to represent each moment of our lives. These moments can be as simple as having a shower before heading to work or getting ready to sweat it out at the gym. From the Mood Booster playlist to Songs to Sing In The Shower to the Brain Food playlist, Spotify has got you covered.

Understanding people through music, a recent research initiative has become a key part of Spotify’s data mission. By analyzing how over 140 million people stream on the music platform, Spotify is able to understand how their listening habits relate to what they’re like offline; from their personality traits to lifestyle choices.

Find out more about yourself

To understand yourself better, our quiz may be able to shed some light on your personality, based on your listening habits and personal choices.

Here is a quick snapshot of the four personality types:

  • The Planner: Planners are meticulous individuals who know exactly what they want and when they want it. They tend to stream music from specific playlists, which contain tracks they obsessively listen to.
  • The Risk Taker: Risk takers are willing to take unconventional roads to achieve their goals. Spontaneity and a sense of adventure is what they thrive in. Discovering new music and/or artists is part of their music journey. And when they do find something new, they are likely to dig deep into it.
  • Easy Going: Individuals who fall within this category are generally relaxed and tend to take time to enjoy the little things in life. They might prefer playlists curated by others or may hit play on playlists that suit their mood at that given moment.
  • Dynamic: Those who find themselves in this category are seen as adaptable. They are able and are willing to adjust their expectations based on the moment they are in. With that in mind, their music taste tend to vary, allowing them to hit play on various genres.
