The Pullman Hotel in Jakarta, Indonesia on Thamrin offers one of the best stays for couples, families or people on business trips to the Indonesian capital. As part of the AccorHotels’ international luxury brand of hotels, this property is especially designed for travellers who want to mix work and pleasure.
The location is perfect for anyone on a business trip to many of the embassies and company offices on Thamrin. The National Museum is on the same road, and a quick taxi ride or Grab is the best way to get there from the Pullman.
We spent the weekend at the Pullman on Thamrin and here are the highlights of the trip:
Located just across sprawling shopping malls that includes shops from Chanel to the local Batik vendors, the Pullman Jakarta on Thamrin is just a bridge walk away from The Plaza Indonesia, The Grand and Thamrin City.
Upon entering, you’ll be greeted immediately and assisted with check-in. Instead of the usual large counter or reception area, the check-in is more intimate with individual “desks.”
What was once a smaller check-in area is now a sprawling first floor with their Sana Sini Restaurant, Le Chocolat Café and The Back Room, which is the hotel bar.
Function rooms are located on the first floor along with a bridal area, which is perfect for post-nuptial photoshoots.
The room
But the best part of the stay for couples who just want to stay in (and nap without the kids shaking them awake) is the room. Aside from meals, you can literally just stay in and watch TV, nap, or have a relaxing bubble bath.
Here’s what you expect:
And reality does not disappoint. We think we just used different filters.
For people who want a firm pillow, a soft pillow, and a long pillow.
Upon entry to the room, we were greeted by a delicious spread of chocolates from the Le Chocolat Café downstairs.
The chocolates we tried were all delicious–but not too rich. Even those little photographs were made of chocolates and specially hand-crafted for the hotel. You don’t have to order any more dessert after dinner if you already have these.
Beautiful chocolate presentation
The provided yukata really did take the whole hotel stay up a notch, as you could just wear it as if you were in a hot spring resort instead of the usual bathrobes in the room. All thanks to the Japanese history of the hotel, you’ll find little touches like such that add charm to your stay.
The view from the room is quite spectacular–but make sure you ask for the Thamrin view. On the same note, beware as you may not be able to resist going to the Louis Vuitton which is just across the street.
The view is certainly amazing, and can really get a shopper’s heart racing.
The Bathroom
The gorgeous bath tub and the shower area are expected–but what truly surprised us is that you could still watch television in the tub! There’s a speaker in the bathroom so whoever is in the tub can still watch what’s on the TV.
The Sana Sini Restaurant
The breakfast buffet at the Sana Sini restaurant could possibly be one of the biggest breakfast buffets we have ever seen. This is the only breakfast buffet that has American, European, Japanese, Indonesian and Chinese cuisine in a huge sprawl.
Pro-tip for breakfast: arrive early because you may not have time to see all the offerings if you get there an hour before the buffet closes.
What’s great about the buffet, though, is that it ends at 11:00 in the morning–so you can actually have brunch!

The sauces do not disappoint.
Fruits and fruit juices.

Sushi and maki for breakfast?
Dessert spread.
Here’s what we had for breakfast. Had to have a little bit of everything. The Eggs Benedict was their specialty for the day, and it was superb.
They boasted about their Japanese roots, and we can’t really blame them. We think the Japanese part of the buffet could have been the actual star, but it’s nestled in the middle of Sana Sini, so try not to get too stuffed with the Western part of the spread first.
You could also go back for lunch and dinner to have their other offerings.
How about the pool?
The pool area is literally an oasis in the city. Thamrin is getting heavy construction work for its train system so the dust and mud can get quite irksome. But the pool helps you relax in the heart of the business district.
Why would you even leave?
If you want to completely relax but have all the shops and bargains at your fingertips, the PULLMAN on Thamrin is the best place to be. You can invest in any designer bag at The Plaza Indonesia or get your fill of Batik at nearby Thamrin City. You won’t even have to hire a taxi, Grab, or Uber because everything you need for a stay in the metro is within walking distance.
