Hotels and restaurants in Bali grant tourists free accommodation during airport closures

If you’ve been following the saga of Mount Agung, you’d notice that some tourists may have opted to not continue their trips or to leave early. But for some, they had no choice but to stay because of airport closures.

But according to the Ministry of Tourism, Republic of Indonesia, they’re prepared to offer hotel discounts and and even free accommodations based on the status of Mount Agung.

Here’s a statement from the Ministry,

Indonesian Hotel and Restaurant Association Bali are granting tourists affected by airline cancellations, and with no flights out of Bali, 1-night free accommodation with the next night at 50% discount. For travelers who need to depart from the country, there are free shuttles available from Ngurah Rai International Airport to Mengwi Bus Terminal.

As of today, their latest update on Mount Agung is:

Please note Bali’s Ngurah Rai Airport  and Lombok Praya airport remain open as Bali celebrates the sixth Full Moon today, with ceremonies occuring across the island. Surfers are also reminded to be safe during the high tides.

The last time any of the airports affected by the volcano was closed was December 1.
