Nanjing 2014 Youth Olympic Games Essay Competition

Plugging this for the 2nd Summer Youth Olympic Games (Nanjing 2014) and the  Communications & Public Relations Department of the Nanjing Youth Olympic Games Organising Committee (NYOGOC) where I am working now in Nanjing, China.

Nanjing 2014 is running an essay competition for youths, “The Way I See the Youth Olympic Games”. The competition is jointly organised by the Nanjing 2014 official website and Nanjing Daily newspaper, together with its official website. The essays can be written in Chinese, English or French. 

“The Way I See the Youth Olympic Games” is open to children from around the world, including Singapore. To date, over 500 entries have been received, mostly from within Mainland China. Other than cash prizes, winning essays and outstanding entries will also be featured in the Nanjing Daily newspaper and the Nanjing 2014 official website. Do send in your entries now to support the Games! 🙂

(1) Participants: All youths from anywhere in the world who are interested in and support the Youth Olympic Games (YOG)

The competition is open to all youths, globally.

(2) Essays are to be submitted via email to: njrbxjz@163.com

(3) Awards:

  • 1st place: 5 winners will each receive RMB600 (or gifts of equivalent value);
  • 2nd place: 10 winners will each receive RMB400 (or gifts of equivalent value);
  • 3rd place: 20 winners will each receive RMB200 (or gifts of equivalent value);
  • Outstanding Award: 100 winners will each receive a NANJINGLELE (Nanjing 2014 mascot) doll;

All award recipients and their mentors will receive honorary certificates.

Timeline:

Entries submission started from 27 June 2014 (50-day countdown to Nanjing 2014). The event will last two months and end in August 2014.

The award presentation ceremony will be at the end of August or the beginning of September 2014. More details will be announced at a later stage.

Rule and Regulations:

No fixed genre and word count. The theme must be related to the Youth Olympic Games (YOG), which may be well-wishes for the YOG, personal anecdotes of your own experience or aspiration for the YOG, interviews with YOG volunteers and athletes, or the changes brought about by the YOG to Nanjing.
