It’s near the end of the year and the festive seasons are just round the corner.

On 10 Nov (Sat), a group of 11 bloggers and over 30 parent-child pairs attended a FREE Be Festive, be Creative workshop with Canon PIXMA to learn some creative craft tips for the coming Christmas and New Year.

The workshop was organised by omy.sg and hosted by popular parenting blogger, Ai Sakura and bubbly host/actress/blogger, Joanne-Marie Sim.

Workshop participants were taught how to make their own customised photo frame, wall clock and party hat using the Canon PIXMA photo printer to stretch their creativity.

Check out the news report and video coverage on omy.sg:

It wasn’t just the children who had fun. Adults, like the invited bloggers, enjoyed themselves too.

Even though I was busy running around, managing the event as the organiser, I still found it fun and rewarding. I like what they did with the DIY clock and am going to get a set of the clock kit to make one with my boy, Asher. For parents with young kids, it would be fun working on crafts like these, selecting, printing and assembling photos together.

When  your child contributed to making their own hand-made toys or household items, I am sure they will learn to treasure these things more.

Many parents actually wrote in to thank omy.sg and Canon after the workshop, in appreciation for the fun they had with their kids. These parents and their children could have spent their precious weekend doing something else, but they chose to spend it with omy.sg and Canon. To me, this was really heartening.
