Yesterday, I had my last Chinese New Year (CNY) dinner for 2012 together with my family at Min Jiang @ One-North. As a yearly tradition, my parents would host the reunion dinner on the eve of the first day of CNY while my aunt and uncle would host the last CNY dinner on the first weekend nearest the 15th day of CNY.
Set amidst luscious greenery at No. 5 Rochester Park, Min Jiang @ One-North is the only Chinese fine-dining restaurant housed in a two-storey black and white colonial bungalow.
Min Jiang is a restaurant under the Goodwood Park Hotel, renowned for restaurant dining in Singapore.
This 3,000 sq ft restaurant boasts of modern chinoiserie interiors, chic furnishings and artifacts, giving a very charming overall ambience for fine dining.
The house specialty is Min Jiang’s authentic Peking Duck, served with 8 different condiments. Min Jiang’s chefs from China prepare this dish, according to an ancient Chinese recipe and roasted to perfection in a custom-made wood-fired oven.
The restaurant has picked up many awards and accolades since its establishment in 2006, such as Top 5 Finalist for “Best Dining Experience” for the inaugural Singapore Experience Awards 2009 by Singapore Tourism Board, Top 5 for “Best Chinese Cuisine Chef” and Top 5 for “Best Asian Cuisine Restaurant – Hotel” in Hospitality Asia Platinum Awards 2009 – 2011 and many more.
A meal at Min Jiang is definitely not cheap, but you pay for quality. Rachel and I enjoyed our dinner there very much, so did my family. We enjoyed all the dishes served. The meal went without a glitch, with good service, nice ambience and excellent food.
The Peking Duck was exceptionally good, one of the best I have tasted and is a must order item at Min Jiang. A chef will skillfully slice up the duck by your table while the staff will prepare them for consumption in two styles – traditional and Sze Chuan. Both are delicious in their own ways.
We left the restaurant with our bellies full and very satisfied. Here are the details for Min Jiang @ One-North if you are interested to visit:
