Royston Tan’s Little Note (小字条)

The short film poster

Little Note《小字条》 is a 15 minutes short film commissioned by Kong Meng San Phor Kark See Monastery. It is written and directed by the director of box office hits, 881 and 12 Lotus, Royston Tan.

I watched it at the gala premiere at LIDO Orchard a few weeks back. To be honest, I was expecting more from Royston. I left the cinema hall feeling a little disappointed as the narrative packed no surprises. Except for the usual beautiful cinematography and scenery, most of the film fell flat for me.

Nonetheless, it is still a heartwarming short film about a boy’s relationship with his mother, growing up in a single parent environment. You can find out more about the film on it’s official website or read the reviews written by other bloggers who attended the event.

This short film will be released directly to video. Hence you have to buy the DVD if you want to watch it. 🙂
